SHOULD THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES TRADE FOR A RUNNING-BACK?

Should the Eagles trade for a running-back? If you want to skip the article my short answer is no.

Here’s a breakdown on why I think it’s a waste. The Eagles are already getting amazing production from the position and the tape doesn’t lie.

Miles Sanders is on the last year of his deal and is basically playing lights out in a prove it or lose it year. The guy is #4 in the entire NFL in yards and is in pace for a 1400 yard season on a team that he isn’t THE GUY. Miles is a top 10 back in my opinion when healthy, and his injury history might be the main reason the reports of Philly looking for another back.

But let’s say he does get hurt, who can the Eagles turn to? They have Kenneth Gainwell and Boston Scott, And Kenneth is low key having a really nice year running the ball. The tape shows him running downhill, finding the hole, showing great acceleration, and killer ball security. BAD BALL SECURITY DRIVES ME INSANE.

Someone might look at those two and think who are those guys? They aren’t aren’t exactly house hold names. They aren’t superbly talented and any other team but the Eagles would have a worse running game with them playing vs Miles Sanders.

But I’m here to tell you the Eagles are built differently, their running game will produce with anyone in the backfield. On top of the option threat Jalen Hurts provides (which leads to a lot of open holes for the RBs) the Eagles boast one of the leagues best lines. Also they for sure have the leagues most complicated run scheme. Everytime you watch the Eagles play the complexity of the running game and athleticism of the offensive line literally jumps off the screen.

You don’t need a top tier running back on this team, the tape shows they will producer regardless who is back there, it’s just a bonus they have a healthy Miles Sanders.

I hold the opinion that they should also just roll the dice on Miles Sanders in his make it or break it year, bringing in another guys could hurt his confidence in the Team, and may just decide to find another team in the offseason.

IF IT AINT BROKE DONT FIX IT

One thing I do think the Eagles need is a pass rusher, but I have some thoughts on that as well and will do a write up later in the week.
