Estaba viendo el juego de los Yankees, y qué bárbaro 😔, cómo un equipo que me ha traído tan buenos recuerdos fue vencido de manera tan cruel. El pitcher de Toronto los tenía completamente dominados con ese splitter que parecía imbatible; ponchó a más de diez bateadores.
Yo pensé que la serie se pondría empatada, pero se fue 2 a 0 en favor de Toronto. Aun así, me gustó ver el juego. Vi desde el punto inicial, cuando los Yankees no hicieron ni un solo hit.

El cuerpo técnico tendrá que analizar a fondo lo que está fallando 🧠. ¿Será que el problema está en el modo de contratar jugadores? ¿O es que los Yankees ya no son aquellos de las épocas antiguas, cuando iban por los mejores del mercado sin pensarlo dos veces?
Ahora toca esperar una de mis partes favoritas: el cierre de la temporada y el inicio del mercado de contrataciones. Ahí es donde se toman las verdaderas decisiones, trayendo jugadores para la próxima temporada. Y tratándose de los Yankees, cada año hay una sola expectativa: ser campeones de su división.
¿Contratar estrellas o descubrir talentos?
¿Qué método conviene más? 💰 ¿Traer a los mejores, o buscar jugadores que otros equipos no ven como estrellas, pero que puedan impactar y darse a conocer desde su primera temporada?
Personalmente, me inclino por la segunda opción. Cuando contratas a alguien sin historial de estrella y termina siendo determinante, además de gastar menos dinero, se construye un equipo funcional y con hambre de triunfo.
Un ejemplo de esto fue lo que lograron los Atléticos de Oakland en su momento. Les recomiendo el libro Moneyball para entender a lo que me refiero: cómo ser campeón con poco dinero y con jugadores descartados por otros equipos, pero que funcionan como piezas clave de un sistema inteligente.

Volvamos a los Yankees. Espero que logren llevarse los tres juegos y hagan la épica 🔥. Si hay un equipo que puede recordar su historia y cambiar el destino, son ellos.

Now we have to hope the pitcher can dominate Toronto’s offense, while the Yankees start hitting again. I’m hoping for the impossible — otherwise, this might be the last game of the season for the Yankees. They’ll have to watch other teams, like the Dodgers or Toronto, continue competing at a higher level.
The coaching staff will need to analyze what’s really going wrong. Is the problem in the way they recruit players? Or have the Yankees stopped being that old-school powerhouse that once went after the best in the market without hesitation?
Now comes one of my favorite parts: the end of the season and the start of free agency. That’s where the real decisions are made — bringing in players for the next season. And when it comes to the Yankees, there’s only ever one expectation: to win their division.

Which approach is better? Bring in the best players, or find those who other teams overlook but can make an impact and prove themselves from their first season?
Personally, I lean toward the second option. When you sign someone who isn’t a star yet and they turn out to be decisive, not only do you spend less money, but you also build a functional team hungry for victory.
