City of Contrasts

I can safely say that Caracas is my favorite city, because it is a city that combines an impeccable and varied architecture with the most exuberant and exotic natural beauty, it is a Caribbean valley that offers an exceptional climate and a privileged geographical location, a few kilometers from the Caribbean Sea and practically in the center of the national territory. Caracas is a city of opportunities, where commerce flourishes every day and where the millions of inhabitants who live here lead a hectic pace of life, because of its condition of national capital is a convulsive city where we will always be in a hurry, walking with firm and determined steps without looking to the sides, but often I stop to admire the vestiges of the past and the windows to the future.

Ciudad de Contrastes

Puedo afirmar con toda seguridad que Caracas es mi ciudad predilecta, ya que se trata de una urbe que combina un impecable y variada arquitectura con la más exuberante y exótica belleza natural, se trata de un valle caribeño que nos brinda un clima excepcional y una ubicación geográfica privilegiada, a pocos kilómetros del Mar Caribe Y prácticamente al centro del territorio nacional. Caracas es una ciudad de oportunidades, en donde el comercio florece cada día y en donde los millones de habitantes que aquí conviven llevan un ritmo de vida trepidante, por su condición de capital nacional se trata de una ciudad convulsa en donde queramos o no siempre estaremos apurados, caminando con pasos firmes y decididos sin mirar a los lados, pero en muchas ocasiones yo me detengo para poder admirar los vestigios del pasado y las ventanas hacia el futuro.

Today I had to run several errands, which occupied me for almost the whole day, this is how I was able to walk through the city from west to east and, therefore, this daily chore became a kind of photographic walk that allowed me to compare the architectural contrasts found in this great city, where we can go from colonial to classic and from modern to contemporary, this in just a few minutes and small meters, which generates an extraordinary and visually very striking urban profile.

Hoy me tocó realizar varias diligencias, lo cual me ocupó durante casi todo el día, es de esta forma como pude recorrer la ciudad de oeste a este y, por lo tanto, este quehacer diario se convirtió en una especie de paseo fotográfico que me permitió comparar los contrastes arquitectónicos que encontramos en esta gran ciudad, en donde podemos pasar de lo colonial a lo clásico y de lo moderno a lo contemporáneo, esto en tan solo pocos minutos y pequeños metros, lo cual genera un perfil urbano extraordinario y visualmente muy llamativo.

In this tour we start at Sucre Avenue, the main artery of the west of the city where we can admire large concrete buildings typical of the 50's, various metal structures and a panorama where nature is present everywhere, as we advance in our walk we can stumble upon the iconic streets of the historic center of the city, where we can discover buildings built in times prior to the 50's and many others that are much more recent, all this along wide sidewalks and perfect linear avenues have a delicate natural touch. Finally we arrive at Plaza Venezuela, an iconic space of the city of Caracas, where we can enjoy large gardens, a large fountain, high-rise buildings and a perfect road network that joins at that point in a kind of large central node. This is how an everyday walk becomes a real photographic adventure through the city. I hope you have enjoyed this unique experience as much as I did and I really invite you to come and walk around Caracas, a city that awaits you with open arms.

En este recorrido empezamos en la Avenida Sucre, la principal arteria del Oeste de la ciudad en donde podemos admirar grandes construcciones de concreto típicas de los años 50, diversas estructuras metálicas y un panorama en donde la naturaleza está presente por todos lados, mientras avanzamos en nuestro caminar podemos tropezarnos con las icónicas calles del casco histórico de la ciudad, en donde podemos descubrir edificios construidos en épocas anteriores a los años 50 y muchos otros que son mucho más recientes, todo esto a lo largo de anchas aceras y perfectas avenidas lineales cuentan con un delicado toque natural. Por último llegamos a la Plaza Venezuela, un espacio icónico de la ciudad de Caracas, en donde podemos disfrutar de amplios jardines, una gran fuente, edificios de gran altura y una perfecta red vial que se une en ese punto en una especie de gran nódulo central. Es de esta forma como un paseo cotidiano se convierte en una verdadera aventura fotográfica a través de la ciudad, Espero que ustedes hayan disfrutado tanto como yo de esta experiencia inigualable y de verdad los invito a que cuando tengan la oportunidad vengan y caminen por Caracas, una ciudad que los espera con los brazos abiertos.
