leg day after a month break: March 14 2024

today is leg day! it has been more than a month since the last one; we have been avoiding leg days due to snowboard weekends. i usually get muscle sores starting the next day and lasts for two to three days when doing leg exercises. to have the best leg condition for snowboarding, we have skipped so much. and look at what it has led me to, my legs were not in top condition at all.

pull ups (12 x 10)
squats (70kg x 3 x 12)
dead lift (40kg x 3 x 12)
lunges (25kg x 3 x 12 per leg)
bulgarian split squat (25kg x 2 x 12 per leg)
leg extensions (52kg x 4 x 10)
calf extension (154kg x 1 x 12, 165kg x 2 x 12)
leg curls (36kg x 3 x 12)

i actually tried to do leg presses instead of calf extensions, it is just not possible. i tried 154kg but was struggling at the second repetition. i lowered the weight at 145kg and did eight. i couldn't even move the next one; i did 10 reps for the first set. and so i rested a bit with all the intentions of doing the rest of the sets. on the second set, my knees were trembling so hard that i decided not to continue. i would rather be on the safe route than get injured. my legs were way too tired. i guess my hip adduction and abduction exercise which i did the previous day was also a factor. to not feel that bad, i did calf extensions instead. might as well do something productive than wallow in this failure, right? i'm still target training a leg muscle so that is still a win for me. but i'm not gonna lie, my legs were at the breaking point.

we did legs because there is no more snowboard activity this weekend. well actually, some of the gang is doing it again this sunday but i decided not to go. my guts told me that the snow would no longer be powdery this time. weather forecast said that although temperature would be low but thursday thru saturday will be sunny. this is a big alert to my eyes that snow would harden making it difficult to ride on a snowboard and even more hurtful once you fall. i am not an expert and i have enjoyed enough so i am backing out this time. if the snow quality would turn out to be good, then great for those going. i hope it turns out well for them.

Nice workout! I just do cycling for 10 KM for leg day, and that is it. 😆
