rising up to the occasion: March 31 2024 | HPUD

last saturday, we went up the woods to hike. it was a short one but we decided to start early in the morning. hopped on the train at a few minutes past 6 in the morning and reached the hike base at 8:30. that is how far away from home we were. but look at that view! those greenery is something else. i am not sure if these leaves fall off during the winter but damn, spring is here.

we reached the "peak" a bit unenthusiastically. we were wanting for more. like a cackle of hyenas hungry for blood, in search of prey. we searched for an extended route on the way back just to extend our hike. and cackle we surely did on the way, jokes bounce off each other having each person drop punchlines after another, it surely was a sight. and an earful actually. but we were alone on the trail, ideal to cackle without bothering others. the extended route was enough to satisfy our bloodlust, short but sweet. short with a bit of risk involved. a short misstep would lead to a disaster. but we managed.

i will be posting more of this trip soon but the "active" part is posted here as a preliminary. my eyes were now satiated with greens in replacement of the whiteness of snow. welcome spring!

and here came sunday, i was surprised that my legs were perfectly functioning well. a little sore was what i expected, probably it will come in a bit of a delay. we decided to hit the gym, and to convince my gym buddy to go (he joined the hiking trip too), i decided that we skip leg day. that worked! if he insisted that we do legs, i would not have complained either. and so we did chest! chest and triceps actually.

pull ups (12 x 10)
bench press (55kg x 3 x 12)
inclined dumbbell press (40kg x 3 x 12)
inclined dumbbell fly (25kg x 3 x 12)
low to high cable fly (9kg x 3 x 12)
declined cable press (36kg x 3 x 12)
a set each of the following with no rest between sets

  • overhead cable triceps extension (18kg x 3 x 12)
  • cable triceps pushdown (22.7kg x 3 x 12)

seated machine fly (36kg x 3 x 12)
skull crusher (14.7kg x 3 x 12)

it was a good sweat. when your body gets used to moving, your body craves for it.

as we headed out, i noticed the sakura tree board again. flowers were indeed posted on it. i was expecting some messages, but i suppose these will do too. one thing is for sure, some of our fellow gym members do have a good sense of humor. they surely think outside the box: or rather, outside the board frame.

i officially started my hive journey last january and have been enjoying writing. it is a great way to use my english which i think has become rusted over the years. here in japan, i rarely get to use english. i speak mostly cebuano and tagalog at home, and japanese at work. this blogging opportunity is a good practice to get my brain to think in english, and yes, i think my brain thinks in the language i use, doesn't yours do?

so here i am officially diving in on my second month of power up day. my hp has been constantly growing this march, still small but steadily climbing. april first is april fool's day but i am no fool here. i'll just use up all my hive to power up. when you enjoy something, you don't usually need any reason to jump in. here is to jumping in! happy power up day!

as always, AMPING SA KANUNAY!
