the lengths you go through : May 29 2025
my day got a bit hectic, but my oh my look at the pictures taken. let me take you on a journey.
afternoon flowers
i loved this picture that which i took that after so so much that i honestly considered not taking any other pictures for the day. i was initially drawn to the flowers and the bug happened to be there. at least i am not squeamish nor scared of this type of bug. i suppose these were fresh blooms, but nonetheless they looked very fresh and vibrant. (submitting this entry to the freshly instated @friendlymoose photo contest.)

and when i said i loved the shot above, of course i took more pictures of that subject. all turned out lovely. my colorblind eyes tell me that these are pink flowers, just correct me in the comments if these weren't. the shot was taken at the public strip of plant box in front of a flower shop. and there so many other flowers in there, those hydrangeas were also worth taking photos as well once the whole bunch bloomed.
the other photo above will be submitted to the macro photography contest of @photofeed, hope these were macro enough to be considered.
nightwalker by the river

i was on a search that night, i will share about it at the end of this post. that would create a bit of suspense to a rather non-dramatic post. and because of that search, i knew from the beginning that this would be a rather long walk.
this bank by the side of sumida river was one of the notable areas passed. clearly this is a favorite among runners and walkers as well, runners were zooming passed me left and right. all this green is really soothing to my eyes, i could stay here for hours. this "runway" was connected to a much wider park but that was not my destination.

the plan was to cross the river at the first bridge seen, so here i was crossing the bridge. those mosaic of apartment indoor light colors looked like an art deco from a distance. that reminded me of a glass tiling pattern using glass squares of different colors. hope you get the reference.
at this point, i just realized that one of my camera lenses had some crack. i was so concerned about it that i immediately searched the internet on costs. and then i realized that i did install some lens covers. yes! only the lens cover cracked. that is just sweet and some money saved. that was an immediate relief to me.
nightwalker by the 2nd river
here we are climbing up the 2nd bridge, this time across the arakawa river. it was my first time over this part of town. i mean i have been across this 2nd river multiple times but that was eastward of where i am now. this was a first walking into katsushika ward. sadly, i had very mixed feelings toward this ward as i have heard multiple ugly news about it.

i was a bit hesitant, katsushika was a different beast in my thoughts. but you know what, there was nothing wrong about it. the ward was more on the residential side, but so too was the ward i live in, arakawa. like any other residential wards, there was not much people while walking around. there were only pockets of places with high activity like those around train stations.
sorry, i went ahead with the story while my pictures were still on the bridge crossing the river. this one was a nice view of the bridge nearby, pretty well lit. the sky was gloomy though, it had been like that these past few days. my weekends so far always had rains. in tonight's walk, i brought an umbrella to be safe.

the walkway on the bridge was quite narrow, and bicycles also use the same path. that was good for me, i always wanted to capture a great bicycle photo. still none for today.

as i was exiting the other side of the river, i noticed these two fishers busy capturing fish i suppose. it is just fun seeing people pursuing their hobbies. and that is my segue to one hobby of mine and the lengths i went through just to reach the area.
the plant shop
before that though, here is a sample of how silent it was in the area. i have been walking for more than an hour now and it was pretty still in this part of the town.

here is the shop finally. the succulent shop is here! i could have gone to other shops but this one was open 24 hours. and it was unmanned, unstaffed. these types of shops have strived here in tokyo, these would never work in the philippines. the shop trusts people to pay what they took out.

the plants looked really healthy! very very tempting! my hands were itching. but nah... no plants bought this time. i was wishing for non standard plants, i mean these on the left were non standard but i find these hard to take care. and i just don't have that much sun in my room, these would immediately look bad after a week in my room. i was happy just looking and being in the presence of these plants. just just happy! that gave me smiles.
do you have some hobbies too where you go the extra mile? plants is that hobby for me.
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
