random sunday walks : June 22 2025
the aftermath of the hike came, my knees died. i had to dig up its grave last night and attach it back on my left leg. yes it was the same knee which had itbs problems last year. itbs or iliotibial band syndrome is a pain which usually affects runners and hikers. i searched it up again and this syndrome usually happens when you over extend your legs inward which causes the nonflexible IT, the tendon that connects the hips to the knees, to rub more intensely against the knee bones causing the inflammation. this time, mine got better after sleep, but this worries me a bit. we have a planned 2 day hike this july and this pain would surely spoil the fun. at least though, exercises which could be done at home could help prevent future pains. i immediately tried that out and hopefully i can do even a tiny bit of it everyday until at least the scheduled hiking trip this coming july.
the pain was significantly less than yesterday so here i was putting these legs into motion.
lunch out
no we were not out to eat these fabric but we certainly passed by the fabric town to get to the restaurant. it is not always where i get to see loads of fabric so this was a picture moment for sure.
and more of them in here. this part of town will surely capture the interest of dressmakers, tailors, and even enthusiasts. there was just so many to see on this road.
the only problem was the heat! it was too hot! too much sun! too much of everything is bad for the health. too much of this makes my brain go crazy.
but we finally went inside the restaurant and got a table immediately. this was a vietnamese resto, i had pho the last time i was here. so this time, i'm trying out this fried pork dish which resembled crispy pata of the philippines. the dipping sauce had fish sauce for sure, this smell is just too familiar. the set meal is served with a soup (tasted like pho broth), fresh rolls and that very tasty dipping sauce, and a mango tapioca dessert. it was delicious! i was also very amused by how talkative the vietnamese group at the next table was. it was a language with little to no similarity to any of the other languages i know.
the way home
it was still very hot on the way back, and i was just very glad that i had my umbrella with me. we were in no hurry, a full stomach is a happy life. and that made me extra curious to things around me. just like this frog caricature drawn on an electricity box thing. for sure this is illegal over here but at least it was cute. will the electric company paint it over? probably, but not that soon.
also took a photo of a person on a bike. yes! i am still on a quest of capturing that perfect bicycle photo. i know it will come someday, but i guess i will still continue to take photos of bicycle even when that day comes. there is always room for growth, right?
nightwalk
my housemate wanted to buy some snacks and i told him that i wanted to walk far. he did not complain but obliged to a shop i recommended that was a bit far enough for a nightwalk. i just wanted to walk some more to train these bad knees and to add in more cardio for the day.
here i was with another picture of a person on bike; this time a police officer came into view. usually, police officers patrol their assigned areas in pairs so this lone officer was a bit weird. night photography really added some focus issues, the one i took in the morning was miles better than this. night photography is dramatic though.
a few meters away, we finally saw the reason why the police officer was there. he must have received a report regarding this illegally parked car in front of a restaurant. it amazes me how fast they can respond to reports like this, and it was not even life threatening.
reached the shop and my housemate got his snacks. we toured the shop before returning home though, and found the adults only section. as adults with non-adult minds, the natural reaction would be to go inside and check the adult supplies inside. my non-adult brain even had the guts to take a picture of the feet of the people inside. sometimes, this brain does things with less thinking.
anyways that is all for today.
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
