orange-y memory lane : October 7 2025
do you see any orange in this picture? well, my friend said that the middle part is orange. i can see it a bit but then again i can't really trust my colorblind eyes with regards to color. but as she confirmed that this is orange, i guess i just have to believe. now i hope @friendlymoose also see it as i am submitting this to the #fpc photo contest. this is a picture of tokyo skytree zoomed 10x. hope it does well.
tonight's nightwalk was a revisit of the asakusa downtown area. housemate js mentioned last time that she wanted to visit this area again and so i just granted her wish, but we have to visit on foot.
otori shrine

we first reached the otori shrie. for some reason, they were preparing some stalls. we have looked around the area but found no bulletin of a festival. i did remember a major event on the grounds of this shrine, but that will still be on november. isn't it too early yet? but i guess they prepare early.
hanayashiki area

asakusa is a big downtown area, and all the side streets leading to the main temple are all filled with business. this part we traversed even had the oldest amusement park in japan, asakusa hanayashiki, apparently built in 1853. well you can check more info from their website as follows.
that street is lined will food shops. it is usually full of people at day time.
asakusa nishi-sando

here is another shopping street with one side leading straight to the main temple. renovated in 2013, this shopping street was originally built in 1954. different from the other shopping streets, this one had floors made of wood.
when we passed by all the shops were closed but these two were filming a dance sequence. i do not know what it was for, probably to be uploaded on tiktok. but he did great dancing to the main theme of the anime demon slayer. we looked very confident while dancing, and immediately went back to shy after.
sensoji

we are finally here on the main grounds of the sensoji temple. as usual, tourists roam the grounds even at night. i took quick snaps and took off. this place never fails to show grandiose in red and gold.

that door detail in gold, sophisticated isn't it? the lanterns outside the inner temple grounds were a constant sight. they have never shut off since the first time i saw this temple.
side streets

life back then probably revolved around the temple, that shops get built near the perimeters. i got fooled by this map though, i thought it was a map from back in the old times. it wasn't. it was of present day asakusa but in old style map making. it looked very convincing from afar.
we also witnessed stage actors meeting their fans outside. it was pretty late, probably the last show of the day. with no other schedule for the day, might as well meet the supporters. they were dressed in period clothes and looked great in them.
here is one photo i took from the side streets. i loved how it turned out still retaining that retro feel. i will be submitting this photo in a contest for sure. the photo needs to be shared.
we went back home from then and saw this orange thing hanging on the fences. i just had to take a picture too, in case the first orange picture does not turn out well. a back-up. so @friendlymoose here is my backup photo if you do not see anything orange on my cover photo.

You've shared some very beautiful and interesting photos. Thank you
oh wow. thanks. hope you enjoyed
Most definitely orange, my friend, what do you see color wise?
it is an ambiguous color somewhere around dark yellow to light red. no particular color popped
I’ve known several people that were colorblind, if I recall, I think it might be hereditary…
yes it is. mostly affects men, while women are usually gene cariers
That’s interesting…. The two people I know that are colorblind are men!🤔
