MATCH ANALYSIS
The second match in Group A sees Senegal and the Netherlands clash.
The Group B sees among its protagonists:
- Senegal
- Netherlands
- Ecuador
- Qatar
I had previously analysed group A and had basically said that I thought it was a balanced group for three national teams: Senegal, Holland and Ecuador. I had excluded the Qatar national team from the qualifying games because it was the one that gave me the impression of being the least solid.
And indeed this was the case, the first match of the WorldCup between Qatar and Ecuador has just ended and the hosts cashed in a resounding 0-2 with a double from Valencia.
Senegal go into the 2022 WorldCup in Qatar with the title of reigning African champions. Not bad for the Senegalese national team. However, it had to give up its most representative player right away: Sadio Manè. No World Cup for the star who shone at Liverpool and is now with Bayern Munich.
However, even without Manè, I think Senegal is a great team. Possible underdog of this World Cup, certainly not the favourite for the final victory, but in my opinion it can express itself at its best and can reserve surprises.
On the other side we find the Netherlands. a national team that has always stood out for its crystal-clear talent, but lately has failed to shine in the international and world arena. However, the squad at coach Louis Van Gaal's disposal is one of the most talented in the WorldCup. There are many players I could mention, from Frenkie De Jong to Virgil Van Dijk, from De Light to Depay (who, by the way, seems to be missing the first match). Possible surprise is the talented Xavi Simons. I think we will see some good things!
MY PREDICTION
I have thought long and hard about the possible outcome of this match, I have tried to balance everything. I would tend towards a slightly favoured Holland... however...
The prediction I tried is X, draw.
Basically Senegal's defensive solidity will not give the sparkling Dutch attack an easy time. Obviously Senegal is a tough, physical team that has shown it can win and will certainly not go and throw away its first match in the World Cup. Especially after seeing Ecuador triumph against Qatar.
On the other hand, Holland has a really strong offensive potential, but what it lacks is the bomber who can bag the ball. Holland can also rely on a solid defence and a very technical midfield.
For me it is possible to see a draw.
TALENTS TO WATCH
I wanted to play a bit of a game and pick one player per team that I think could stand out in this World Cup.
For the Senegal national team, I would recommend Kalidou Koulibaly, Chelsea defender and long-standing pillar of the Napoli defence.
As for the Dutch national team, I have chosen one of the many names in the squad: Frenkie De Jong. For me one of the best midfielders in the world for technique and ductility.

ANALISI DEL MATCH
La seconda gara del Gruppo A vede scontrarsi Senegal ed Olanda.
Il Gruppo B vede tra i suoi protagonisti:
- Senegal
- Olanda
- Ecuador
- Qatar
Avevo precedentemente già analizzato il girone A e avevo sostanzialmente detto che mi sembrava un girone equilibrato per 3 nazionali: Senegal, Olanda ed Ecuador. Avevo escluso dai giochi qualificazione la nazionale del Qatar perchè era quella che mi dava l'impressione di essere la meno solida.
Ed effettivamente è stato così, si è appena conclusa la prima gara della WorldCup tra Qatar ed Ecuador e i padroni di casa hanno incassato un sonoro 0 a 2 con doppietta di Valencia.
Il Senegal si presenta alla WorldCup 2022 in Qatar con il titolo di campione d'Africa in carica. Mica poco per la Nazionale Senegalese. Ha dovuto però rinunciare subito al suo giocatore più rappresentativo: Sadio Manè. Niente mondiali per la stella che ha brillato al Liverpool e che ora si trova in forza al Bayern Monaco.
Tuttavia, anche senza Manè, io credo che il Senegal sia una grande bella squadra. Possibile underdog di questa coppa del mondo, di certo non la favorita per la vittoria finale ma secondo me può esprimersi al meglio e può riservare sorprese.
Dall'altro lato troviamo l'Olanda. nazionale che da sempre si distingue per il suo talento cristallino ma che ultimamente non riesce a brillare in ambito internazionale e mondiale. Tuttavia la rosa a disposizione del coach Louis Van Gaal è una delle più talentuose della WorldCup. Di giocatori potrei citarne tanti, a partire da Frenkie De Jong fino a Virgil Van Dijk passando da De Light fino ad arrivare a Depay ( che tra l'altro sembrerebbe saltare il primo match). Possibile sorpresa il talentuoso Xavi Simons. Secondo me ne vedremo delle belle!
IL MIO PRONOSTICO
Ho pensato a lungo sul possibile esito di questo match, ho cercato di bilanciare tutto. Tenderei verso un'Olanda leggermente favorita... però...
Il pronostico che ho provato è X, pareggio.
Sostanzialmente la solidità difensiva del Senegal non darà vita facile al frizzante attacco olandese. Ovviamente il Senegal è una squadra tosta, fisica, che ha dimostrato di poter vincere e che sicuramente non andrà a buttare la sua prima gara nel mondiale. Specialmente dopo aver visto l'Ecuador trionfare contro il Qatar.
Dall'altro lato l'Olanda un potenziale offensivo davvero forte ma tuttavia quello che le manca è il bomber che insacca la palla. Anche l'Olanda può contare su una difesa salda e su un centrocampo molto tecnico.
Per me è possibile vedere un pareggio.
TALENTI DA OSSERVARE
Ho voluto fare una specie di giochino e scegliere un player a squadra che secondo me potrebbe distinguersi all'interno del cammino di questo mondiale.
Per la nazionale del Senegal mi sento di consigliarvi Kalidou Koulibaly, difensore del Chelsea e storico pilastro della difesa del Napoli.
Per quanto riguarda invece la Nazionale Olandese ho scelto uno dei tanti nomi proposti dalla rosa: Frenkie De Jong. Per me uno dei migliori centrocampisti al mondo per tecnica e duttilità.
