My Actifit Report Card: August 25 2025

On Sundays, holidays, the day is often spent doing various things. It is not possible to go sightseeing on time. But even in a short time, you can visit all parts of Kolkata if you want. With that in mind, after bathing and eating, I went out in the afternoon in search of some tourist attractions in Kolkata. From Dum Dum, I took the metro to Mahatma Gandhi Road stop. From there, I exited through gate number two or walked straight, leaving Mahajati Sadan in my hand, and took the first street on the left, Muktarambabu Street. I entered the Marble Palace by showing my Aadhaar card and writing my name and address in the register at the security counter at the gate. There is no separate entry fee here. But Aadhaar card is mandatory. The museum inside is open until 3 pm. But you can stay in the palace premises until 4 pm. Inside, there are beautiful white stone statues on the ground floor, billiard tables, and a beautifully crafted Tagore building with incredibly beautiful marble work on the floor. A guide there showed us these things. Taking pictures in the inner palace is strictly prohibited. So we couldn't take pictures. There are some things preserved on the upper floor, but now I couldn't see them because some renovation work is going on. There is also a small zoo with many animals in the palace. Anyway, after spending some time here, we went to the 'Siddhi Vinayak Temple' next door. When the temple opened around 4 pm, we got darshan and indulged in the offerings. The interior of the temple was beautiful. From here, we walked along Rabindra Sarani and passed by Jorasanko Thakurbari to reach Vaikuntha Dham. This temple is beautifully crafted in the style of the southern temples. After spending some time, we came to Jorasanko Thakurbari again to see the evening light and sound show. But we were disappointed. It is now closed. It will be shown regularly in winter and summer. This time, in the evening, I took pictures of the Thakur house from outside and returned to Dum Dum from the nearby 'Girish Park' metro station. This short tour was completed in just a few hours.
