Finalmente la Fórmula 1 ha comenzado, ya ha dado inicio una de las temporadas más esperadas por muchos debido a todo el contexto que hay detrás de ella, contexto del que ya hemos hablado en ocasiones anteriores. La cosa es que llegábamos a Bahrein con la intención de ver algo diferente, de ver más paridad y un poco menos de dominio de unos cuantos, no porque sus carros no sean buenos sino porque se pensaba que los demás hubieran podido acercarse un poco en lo que a rendimiento se refiere. Y es que fue un poco así ya que en las sesiones de prácticas si hubo alguien que nunca ganó ni fue el más rápido ese sería Max Verstappen.

En cambio lo que vimos en un principio fue una igualdad bastante interesante entre Ferrari, un Mercedes por allí, incluso los McLaren y el Aston Martin; realmente se preveía que iba a ser una carrera poco habitual. No fue así y la prueba de ello fue la pole position del día viernes; esa clasificación nos confirmó que la Red Bull se estuvo guardando cosas y que siguen siendo las bestias que están en otra liga y universo, que la Mercedes siguen sin estar muy a tono, Ferrari por otro lado si se ven con mucha velocidad y que el resto todavía tienen que trabajando mucho, sobretodo Alpine que fue un verdadero desastre todo el fin de semana.
Instead what we saw at the beginning was a quite interesting equality between Ferrari, a Mercedes over there, even the McLaren and the Aston Martin; it was really expected to be an unusual race. Como dije ya en la pole estábamos comenzando a ver el verdadero poderío de Verstappen con ese RB20 y la confirmación de que no hay un solo carro entre los otros 19 que le pueda hacer sombra. Lo que también se notó es que sacando a Max de la ecuación, del segundo que fue Leclerc hasta el décimo que fue Hulkenberg la diferencia fue de menos de un segundo por lo que si, esta Fórmula 1 sería mucho atractiva si el neerlandés no estuviera o si los demás carros estuvieran al mismo nivel de él. Pero como hay que arreglárselas como sea nos tocará ser testigos, viendo lo visto hasta ahora, de estar delante de una una copia exacta de lo que fue la temporada anterior.

Leclerc definitivamente no tiene la suerte de su lado, comenzó con unos problemas en el frenado que lo hizo perder mucho ritmo lo que eventualmente hizo que su compañero, Carlos Sainz, lo pasara sin problemas. Al final se recuperó y logró la cuarta plaza. Sainz se vio sumamente rápido y capaz de grandes cosas, la cosa es que la Ferrari lo deje pero su ritmo de carrera fue muy top, de hecho, desde las prácticas ya estábamos viendo el desempeño del madrileño que la verdad es que ilusiona.

Mercedes y McLaren los noté muy parejos pero lejos de lo que realmente pueden hacer, de hecho se repartieron las posiciones entre el 5 y el octavo lo que nos dice que su rendimiento es constante pero lejos de los de arriba. Norris es un piloto top, creo que de los mejores de la parrilla actual, incluso mejor que Leclerc, pero hasta que no le den un auto realmente ganador, no podrá demostrar más y esa tiene que ser la tarea de McLaren este año. Alonso y Stroll también estuvieron muy igualados, el canadiense logró subir par de lugares mientras que el asturiano sí bajó tres puesto. Como fanático de Fernando me preocupa que ese monoplaza no de para más, pero habrá que esperar.

Y bueno, de mitad de tabla para abajo lo de siempre, ver quien es el menos malo. Lo de Alpine es espantoso, ese carro o el diseño del mismo tiene serios problemas de recalentamiento por lo que esta semana deberán de encontrar una salida de cara al premio de Arabia. Sargeant demostrando que para mi fue un error renovación por parte de Williams, en la carrera tuvo un error más que lo llevó al fondo de la tabla. De verdad que lo del estadounidense parece un chiste pero tristemente no lo es, mucho que remar para Vowles y compañía. En fin, un gran premio sin mucho que reseñar más allá de la estratosférica diferencia que hay entre Red Bull y los demás.

Apenas vamos por la primera carrera pero si esta tendencia se mantiene tendremos una temporada monótona, espero por el bien del espectáculo que se hagan los ajustes para que disfrutemos de mucha más competitividad. Es así amigo, la temporada 2024 pinta ser igual que la anterior, RedBull y Verstappen en la delantera, uno o dos escalones con respecto a sus rivales, incluso Pérez es superado por el piloto de países Bajos. Ferrari es quien está más cerca pero aún le queda por trabaje si quiere alcanzar el nivel de la escudería austríaca. Mclaren, Mercedes y Aston Martin al menos está esta primera carrera se vieron superados, me esperaba más de AM.
