(ESP-ENG) Ferrari rompiendo el mercado.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Can you imagine Messi wearing a Real Madrid shirt, CR7 wearing a Barcelona shirt, or Jordan playing for the Utah Jazz or Derek Jeter in a Boston Red Sox uniform? - Certainly there are things that seem impossible until they simply happen. And that day came with the case of Lewis Hamilton who after a long 10 years with the Mercedes team decided to leave, but not to any team, but to the one that is on the front sidewalk and who historically have always been the "rivals" sportingly speaking. Ferrari together with the Briton have decided, as I stated in the title, to break the market with only one month to go before the start of the new season.
Without fear of being wrong, this has been one of the most important, significant and mediatic moves in this sport in recent years, I might miss one, but I don't think it's of the magnitude of this one. Hamilton won everything with Mercedes, he did and undid everything until a certain Verstappen appeared to balance things a bit. A move like this in my opinion is risky because Lewis is not going to go to a team just like that out of the blue and even more knowing the problems they have had in recent years. So why is Hamilton leaving? - For money, for new challenges, because he was promised a fast and completely new car, because he saw that the new Mercedes car would not be up to it, or all of the above?.
For me it's a bit of all of them. In the last few seasons we were already seeing a Hamilton uncomfortable and unhappy with the car and with the things and decisions that were happening in the team. The last two seasons were really bad, the W14 did not perform as expected which made Lewis' frustration more than evident in many awards through the radio communications. Lewis had two seasons remaining on the contract with the last one being optional, hence this move being from 2025. What does this mean? - Well, we will see a more than interesting 2024 season because we will have to see how this Toto-Hamilton and Sainz-Ferrari dynamic will be.
Of course, we are talking a lot about Hamilton but there is already a driver who lost his seat for next season and that is Carlos Sainz from Madrid. If what happened to Lewis was a surprise, what happened to Sainz is unfair. Ferrari is betting a lot on Leclerc, they see him as the chosen one or the gifted one and they may be right, the future he has is immense but it is also true that if we go to the last numbers the season of the Monegasque went from more to less, but less downhill. Charles made many mistakes, mistakes that seemed like rookie mistakes and lack of concentration added to the terrible strategies of Ferrari. And in the middle of that chaos was Sainz trying to do his best, pulling out races with Leclerc out and with very questionable decisions from his team.
As I said, all this new dynamic will be very interesting. At Mercedes I don't know how they will see Hamilton's decision to go to Ferrari, maybe they will decide to give all the support to Russell and relegate Lewis to the background. The relationship with Toto I don't think it is broken but this is undoubtedly a hard and unexpected blow for everyone. On the other side we have Sainz who last season had to sacrifice a lot for Leclerc because he was asked to do so, will we see the same in this season? - For example, if Sainz is asked to let Leclerc pass, will he let him pass just like that? - On the one hand there is being a good professional and sportsman but they are also human and these relationships are not easy to control because in the end what you want is to win and that's it.
The issue now is who will fill Hamilton's seat at Mercedes. I'm sure that talks have already started to fill that gap, yes, there is still a season to go but Mercedes is a TOP team that will want to have that seat closed quickly. Wolf did say that the timing was awkward because the contract extensions of Norris and Leclerc, who are the big jewels, were just announced and that one of them would have been a good candidate. With Russell being the leader of this team now it would have to be seen which is more convenient, a young driver or someone with a lot of experience. Checo Perez has not renewed with Red Bull, there is Sainz himself or some young driver like Tsunoda, Albon or Ricciardo himself.
The reality is that in a month a very interesting season will start where we will see very interesting things. The last of Hamilton dressed in black and the last of Sainz dressed in red. I think it will be a very entertaining season, this is nothing more than an extra and very spicy ingredient that will give more depth to all this plot within the Paddock in this quest to take away the dominance of Red Bull. The countdown begins...
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all, see you next time!

Saludos!!
