Hello friends, good vibes to all.
It will be less and less time before the window to make signings closes, in fact it will be less than a week before that happens, and it must be said that it has been a fairly quiet market without big movements, also because the winter market is not characterized by that, it is very rare to see a high caliber transaction at this time. For what it has served is to begin to test those signings that could materialize in the summer, perhaps the most talked about and what I consider will be the soap opera in all these months that of Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, there is talk of everything, exchanges, figures, agreements and the reality is that nothing may be true.
Usually we always talk about European clubs, but today I want to make a parenthesis because at the national team level, there have been several movements in terms of coaches of some countries after certain performances in the World Cup in Qatar. The first is the return of Ronald Koeman to the Netherlands. Van Gaal left the post, as was already known, after the World Cup and ended up taking over the former coach of Barcelona and of this same country 4-5 years ago. Personally I don't like Koeman at all, his numbers were not bad in his former management but I guess it's his way of playing and his methods that are not convincing in the end. Van Gaal left the bar high because if there was a national team that recovered its level it was the Netherlands, I don't know if Koeman will be able to follow in his footsteps; what he did say is that he will be much more offensive leaving behind the 5-3-2 to return to the 4-3-3 that he likes so much.
Other moves that took place were two in particular. Roberto Martinez to Portugal and then Fernando Santos to Poland. The former might excite me a little more than the latter. The ability Martinez has to get a national team going is great, he was the architect of that powerful Belgium but eventually fizzled out through no fault of his own, the debacle of that team was because of an ego-filled locker room. Even so, what he did in Belgium is considerable so he is expected to repeat that performance in Portugal, the Portuguese have a good team, they showed it in Qatar but they lacked ambition there. On the other side of the pond Santos arrives to a Poland that has nothing to offer, Lewandowski and if anything, for me they were one of the great disappointments of the last World Cup.
Santos did not do badly with Portugal either, they even won a Euro against all odds but it was a matter of cycles, their time had passed and a renewal was needed for the next Euro and logically for the 2026 World Cup. Who can do better of the three? - I think Martinez has better numbers to perform better with Portugal, I think there is a good generation of players and if he sets his mind to it, watch out for the Lusitanians. Having commented a little on the reality at the national team level, let's talk about some of those movements that may have given more to talk about in the past weeks.
- Joao Félix [Chelsea]
The Portuguese arrives in England after his time at Atletico where the truth is he never exploded or gave what was expected of him, the colchoneros paid almost 125 million and in my opinion he never managed to fill that price, to Chelsea he arrives on loan until the end of the season with an option to buy. Joao is not a bad player, with Portugal in Qatar he showed some things, what I think is that he is expected things that really are not; for me he is just a good player, he has some magic, good mobility and vision but that's all, he is not a crack out of series or anything like that, hence the disappointment that can generate. What did he do in his first game with Chelsea? - He got himself sent off. The lower the expectation, the lower the disappointment.
- Cody Gakpo [Liverpool]
This Dutchman is the typical player who went through the World Cup effect, which is nothing more than having a ten tournament, making all eyes fall on him. Gapko played for PSV with modest performances, nobody was talking about him, then came the World Cup and with the Netherlands he did what he wanted, three goals and was very decisive in almost all the matches he played, he is one of those wingers who, apart from speed and agility, also has the ability to score goals. Obviously Klopp, who has a good eye for players, did not think twice and decided to sign him for his team. He is a jewel? - I don't know if he is still there but he is certainly a player to watch more often because he can explode at any moment.
- Memphis Depay [Atlético de Madrid]
Joao's absence had to be covered by someone and the chosen one was the Dutchman, a player who never had it easy at Barcelona, in fact the rumors of his departure had been going around for a long time and for me he lasted longer than he should have in a club that never counted on him. I remember that last summer there was a lot of talk about his departure and he always denied it because according to him his future was with the Culés, that lasted only 3-4 months for him to realize that he was not going to play anymore. A pity because I really think he is a very top striker, he is the typical slippery area player who has an impressive punch. The thing is that he comes to a team that is in a deep crisis so the level of demand will be double, we will see if he manages to fulfill the desires of Cholo and the fans.
- Mykhaylo Mudryk [Chelsea]
The Ukrainian pearl. This player arrived in London after having paid 100 million to Shakhtar Donetsk, a figure that until a few years ago was exorbitant for such a young and "unknown" player. The thing is that we are dealing with a young 22 year old who is already the fastest player in the Premiership thanks to his debut against Liverpool. Personally, I saw that game and I must confess that he has a lot of manners and his statistics confirm it: he won almost all the duels he played, completed 14 passes and was one of the fastest dribblers, all this in just a little more than half an hour. But it's the same as with Depay, Chelsea is a club that is in a complicated situation at the moment, so it will be up to him, little by little, to row against the current. Mudryk if I think he will be a sensation in the Premier League, you have to give him time to adapt but it looks like he will be that unbalanced player and the typical headache for other clubs.
For me these were the most striking, there is also the one of Wout Weghorst with Manchester United, the player that Messi told to shut up in case you do not recognize him and currently there is the one of Danjuma with Tottenham, the Villarreal striker who made a lot of noise in the first round of the Champions League. The rest are just rumors that are not worth mentioning until they come true.
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
