(ESP-ENG) La Champions comenzó con mucha jerarquía // The Champions League started with a lot of class!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Yesterday afternoon saw the start of the most important club tournament in the world, our beloved Champions League. A new edition that starts after a very busy transfer market, so we also saw how these signings have already begun to bear fruit in the competition. I have always believed that this first day is extremely important for the teams because it will help them to see and feel a little where they are standing at European level, although it is true that a single match is often not considered as an important reference if it is able to show us how solid or how weak a certain club can be. And if you don't believe what I'm saying, just ask Thomas Tuchel who in the early hours of today was fired from Chelsea after yesterday's defeat of the Blues.
Another who is also in the tightrope is Julen Lopetegui, coach of Sevilla, who was massacred by Manchester City with a Haaland that is not known what his ceiling is. The truth is that it was a first day, and in the absence of what happens today, quite busy and with a significant number of goals but also goals of great workmanship and level. The hierarchy was on the pitch yesterday on the side of Real Madrid, City, Dortmund and a surprising Dinamo Zagreb who were responsible for the dismissal of Tuchel, an incredibly surprising defeat. But Chelsea is not new, the blues had already started a season quite weak and below the usual level, they are sixth with 10 points but their game is the one that has been precarious and it is ironic because they are the club that spent more in signings in England and beware if in Europe; likewise I am a little surprised by the dismissal of Tuchel but well, what we came to.
- Un Madrid cómodo! // A comfortable Madrid!
Real Madrid yesterday looked to be a monumental disaster because they faced a Celtic team that at least offered some resistance on the field accompanied by a Madrid team that at least in the first half was quite cold and without many chances to score. But the real alarm was given when Benzema went off injured almost half an hour into the game, this meant that the captain, the one who scores the goals and the one who harangues was out of a game that as I said is vital just for being the presentation in the Champions League. In his place Hazard came in and with him a sea of doubts because we all know the Belgian's level, although he himself assured that this season everything would be different. At this point I was a little surprised by the performance of the Scots, who I think had the clearest chance, a post.
The second half would be a 180-degree change. The Merengues came out to press and got the results quickly thanks to a great Valverde, one of Madrid's best yesterday, assisting Vinicius in a lethal and fulminating counterattack. Four minutes later, the magic of Luka Modric came out with a shot with the outside of his boot to beat Hart, a goal of great workmanship and class from the Croatian, before the third came from none other than Hazard, who found the net again. The Whites gave Celtic no chance in the second 45 minutes, they went out to win and did so without much trouble. So much so that they did not miss Benzema. Great triumph because they took off the label that without the French striker they are not able to win.
- Mbappé anuló a la Juve! // Mbappé has cancelled Juve out!
I say that Mbappé annulled Juventus but the truth is that it was Juve itself who collapsed in a game where it proposed absolutely nothing. The first half of the Italians was a disaster, they only had one and because the strikers are real towers because otherwise they do not arrive, there was no associated play, there was no player who drove and created chances, the most decent was Leandro Paredes who really tried to do something that in the end was not enough, the absence of Di Maria was very noticeable, he is the different player capable of bringing the spark to this sad Juventus. And of course, Chiesea, as the Vecchia Signora misses the Italian, they will be counting the days for his return.
But let's talk about the goals, which were a real madness both for the quality of the definition and the plays behind them. The first one was a magical play by Neymar, the pass pumped because at ground level it was not going to be possible was impressive and then without dropping it Mbappé sent it to save; the truth is that they were goals that tell us that this PSG may be in another tune this season under the hand of a focused and capable coach, Christophe Galtier, who has already been champion in France with Lille. The second goal was a very well put together and better resolved collective play that exposed Juve's poor defensive scheme. It is impressive how that defensive line left gaps right between them and the goalkeeper, it was a plain to see there. If Juventus play like they did yesterday, their future in Champions League is doomed, they improved a bit in the second half but that was not enough. And well, Mbappé as well as Haaland arrived to break records, it's a pleasure to watch them play.
- Erling Haaland no es de este planeta! // Erling Haaland is not from this planet!
I read some really scary stats about this Norwegian. He has more direct participation in goals than games played, that is to say, thanks to him 201 goals have been scored in 195 games played and he has 167 goals in those 195 games. Those numbers are crazy, with the age he has, he already has better marks than Cristiano and Messi when they were the same years old, so what is the ceiling of this player? - And he is going to miss the World Cup, let's imagine if he also did the same in Qatar. I do not know what will be the future of Haaland as a player but what I can know or assume is the future of City in this first round and without fear of being wrong and seeing what happened last night is not very complicated to think. Guardiola has a highly oiled and capable team to reach the final stages of this Champions League, not only because of Haaland, but also because of Foden, Bernardo Silva, De Bruyne, Grealish, etc.
Sevilla had no chance whatsoever to get into the game, a single collective play at the end of the first half was the most "dangerous" and showy thing that Lopetegui's team showed, hence the Spanish coach is about to be fired from his position. There is not much to say beyond how much better City were. In that group, the only ones who could overshadow them are the Germans of Dortmund, who they face next week and where we will see Haaland face the team that gave him so much.
- El hundimiento del Chelsea! // The Chelsea collapse!
Chelsea's performance yesterday was a monumental nonsense, it is impossible to understand how a team that spent more than 300 million in signings had such a poor and pitiful performance. A fierce counterattack twelve minutes into the match was enough for Zagreb to kill off the game, because Chelsea were not able to generate anything, they were not incisive and much less vertical. And so much so that the Croatians could have left with a bigger score but Kepa and the goal post prevented it. This situation is not new for Chelsea, they have been a bit regular in the Premier League with quite gray performances and they had not shown an attractive and effective game for a long time.
And in these cases, who is the one who always pays the price? - Yes, the technician. But was there a reason to fire him? - Call me crazy but I don't think so, Tuchel is not a bad coach and having so many new players may have been a factor in finding the right squad. Maybe it was just a matter of time before that team could show improvement or maybe it's just me being naive and it was his time. The thing is that Chelsea does not have a coach at the height of the season, there is already talk of names but nothing confirmed so far. Undoubtedly, this defeat conditions the English team a lot because now they have to dance with a couple of ugly teams like Salzburg and Milan. We will see how they get out of this storm.

Saludos!
