Otro fin de semana de Formula 1 en donde fuimos testigos de gratas sorpresas que se dieron en Gran Bretaña en el famoso y exigente circuito de Silverstone. Como antesala tuvimos lo que sucedió en Austria en donde Verstappen ganó muy cómodamente pero también por ahí vimos algo que en aquel momento no lo entendimos así y a que ahora si, Lando Norris terminó cuarto esa carrera la cual fue bastante interesante. Es verdad que hasta ahora no ha sido la mejor temporada para los dirigidos por Zak Brown pero esta actuacion que vimos durante todo el fin de semana en tierras inglesas puede que haya sido una puerta para que los mejores resultados finalmente lleguen para el equipo como para sus pilotos.
Another Formula 1 weekend where we witnessed pleasant surprises that took place in Great Britain at the famous and demanding Silverstone circuit. As a prelude we had what happened in Austria where Verstappen won very comfortably but we also saw something that at that time we did not understand and now we do, Lando Norris finished fourth that race which was quite interesting. It is true that so far it has not been the best season for those led by Zak Brown but this performance that we saw throughout the weekend in English lands may have been a door for the best results to finally arrive for the team and its drivers.
En lo personal me alegré mucho por esto porque creo que el potencial de Norris y Piastri es inmenso, son dos de los pilotos jóvenes con más proyección y futuro de toda la Formula 1. Pero, que pasa? - ya lo dijo Verstappen en una entrevista, si tan solo tuvieran un carro más ganador podríamos ver a Lando pelear en puestos más arriba y muy probablemente batallar por ganar las propias carreras. Muy seguramente esta situación cambiará en un futuro no muy lejano así que mientras tendremos que ver a estos pilotos destacar con lo que tienen y lo que pueden, que ojo, estos McLaren tanto en la pole position como en la carrera del día de ayer fueron unas auténticas balas al punto que Hamilton nunca pudo darle caza a Lando en esa segunda posición.
Personally I was very happy about this because I think the potential of Norris and Piastri is immense, they are two of the young drivers with more projection and future of all Formula 1. But what's going on? - Verstappen already said in an interview, if only they had a more winning car we could see Lando fighting in higher positions and most likely battling to win the races themselves. Most likely this situation will change in the not too distant future, so in the meantime we will have to see these drivers stand out with what they have and what they can, and be careful, these McLaren both in pole position and in yesterday's race were real bullets to the point that Hamilton could never catch Lando in that second position.

Los sábados, los benditos sábados son los días en donde podemos ver como se van engranando las cosas de cara a lo que será la carrera del domingo, es por eso que aquel día pudimos ver varias cosas interesantes y curiosas. Lo primero es que el Checo Pérez nuevamente, por quinta vez consecutiva, queda fuera en apenas la Q1, realmente no se que está pasando allí, no se si será un tema con el propio piloto, estrategias con el equipo, el carro no está funcionando como se debe, no lo se, la realidad es que se está volviendo costumbre ver al mexicano salir muy atrás en la parrilla. Lo segundo es que Alex Albon sigue dando de que hablar haciendo una muy buena y decente clasificación quedando de octavo, es raro ver a un Williams en esas posiciones pero si, por lo menos en los dos últimos premios las cosas le sonríen al británico/tailandés.

Y lo tercero es lo que veníamos comentando, durante las tres fases de la pole position los McLaren siempre mostraron estar a la par de los Red Bull y de los propios Ferrari, siempre lograban posicionarse en los tres primeros lugares, la cosa es que siempre salía Max a derrumbar los tiempos como el piloto imparable que es. Le leí a alguien en las redes sociales que sin Max no estuviera estaríamos ante una de las mejores temporadas que se hayan visto y miren, puede ser. A lo largo de las 10 carreras que llevamos siempre hemos visto como los diferentes equipos se alternan las buenas actuaciones, en su momento se vio que las Mercedes parecía resurgir, Ferrari también ha hecho buenos premios, Aston Martin con Alonso y ahora McLaren. Pero la realidad es que por delante de todos ellos hay un solo hombre: Max Verstappen.

Llegamos al domingo, día de carrera que venía con una leve amenaza de lluvia la cual nunca llegó. Se apagaban las luces y salían los pilotos y antes de la primera curva nos dimos cuenta que lo que habíamos visto el sábado no había sido coincidencia y es que Lando Norris, en una gran maniobra, le arrebataba el primer lugar a Verstappen para así ponerse líder del premio. Piastri estuvo a punto de hacer lo mismo pero ahí si Max supo contener al joven piloto para que finalmente quedara de tercero. El comienzo de los McLaren fue pletórico y brutal, estaban confirmando que venían con todas las intenciones de hacer un buen premio. Como era de esperarse este liderato duró a penas cinco vueltas y es que Verstappen recuperaría lo que era suyo una vez los neumáticos agarraran calor y se activara el DRS.
We arrived on Sunday, race day that came with a slight threat of rain which never came. The lights went out and the drivers came out and before the first corner we realized that what we had seen on Saturday had not been a coincidence and that is that Lando Norris, in a great maneuver, snatched the first place from Verstappen to take the lead of the race. Piastri was about to do the same but Max was able to contain the young driver so that he was finally third. The start of the McLaren was plethoric and brutal, they were confirming that they came with all the intentions to make a good prize. As expected this leadership lasted barely five laps and Verstappen would recover what was his once the tires got hot and the DRS was activated.
Hay que decir que la carrera por lo menos hasta la vuelta 34 la carrera fue muy lineal y sin tantas emociones. Se puede pensar que en este circuito es sencillo adelantar pero la realidad es que no es así porque las rectas o zonas de DRS, las cuales creo que son dos nada más, son muy cortas por lo que dificulta que haya un envión importante de los monoplazas. No digo que no se den sobrepasos, de hecho ayer vimos algunos, pero no es la norma común. La estrategia en cuanto a cauchos más clara era salir con gomas medias y terminar con duras, algunos salieron con las blandas y terminaron con medias. Esto era lo esperado pero todo cambio un poco gracias a un Safety Car que se desplegó en dicha vuelta 34 debido a un fallo en el auto de Magnussen.
It must be said that the race, at least until lap 34, was very linear and without so many emotions. You may think that in this circuit it is easy to overtake but the reality is that it is not so because the straights or DRS zones, which I think there are only two, are very short, making it difficult for the cars to overtake. I am not saying that overtaking does not happen, in fact we saw some yesterday, but it is not the common rule. The clearest strategy in terms of tires was to start with medium tires and finish with hard, some started with soft and finished with medium. This was expected but everything changed a bit thanks to a Safety Car that was deployed on lap 34 due to a failure in Magnussen's car.

Todo cambió porque hubo algunos que hicieron paradas antes del SC, otros no supieron rendir mejor los cauchos, otros por el contrario si lograron alargar la entrada a pits, en fin, un simple hecho que cambió la carrera de algunos para bien como para mal. Para mal lo digo por la Ferrari, podían haber terminado mucho más arriba y al final terminaron en novena y decima posición, Piastri perdió la tercera plaza gracias a un Hamilton que supo aprovechar todo esto y asaltó dicho tercer lugar. Cuatro o cinco vueltas después el SC saldría y comenzaría otra carrera, una sin dudas mucho más animada. Veríamos una batalla campal entre Norris y Hamilton por el segundo lugar el cual el piloto de Mercedes nunca le pudo arrebatar, a un Checo Pérez escalar al sexto puesto y a un Carlos Sainz perder tres lugares en una misma vuelta.
Everything changed because there were some who made stops before the SC, others did not know how to use the tires better, others on the contrary managed to lengthen the pit stop, in short, a simple fact that changed the race of some for better and for worse. Finalmente la carrera terminaría con la sexta victoria consecutiva de Max, con un Lando Norris en un muy buen merecido segundo lugar y el podio sería completado por Hamilton. En lo personal me hubiese gustado ver a Piastri allí pero no se pudo, creo que su oportunidad llegará tarde o temprano pero una cuarta posición no es nada mala para el equipo. Los Aston Martin tienen dos carreras en donde no se encuentran, han estado un escalón por debajo últimamente y eso es algo de lo que deberían de estar pendientes, poco ritmo este fin de semana. Y de nuevo Albon en la zona de puntos, esto es digno de mencionar porque pareciera que estamos viendo un cambio en Williams, veremos si se logra mantener en el tiempo.
Finally the race would end with Max's sixth consecutive victory, with Lando Norris in a very well deserved second place and the podium would be completed by Hamilton. Personally I would have liked to see Piastri there but it was not possible, I think his chance will come sooner or later but a fourth position is not bad for the team. The Aston Martins have two races where they have not been on the pace, they have been a step down lately and that is something they should be looking out for, not much pace this weekend. And again Albon in the points, this is worth mentioning because it seems that we are seeing a change in Williams, we will see if it can be maintained over time.

Verstappen sigue en lo más alto con 255 puntos, Pérez con 156 y Alonso con 137 respectivamente. En cuanto a la carrera por el campeonato de los equipos Red Bull está muy solida en la punta con 411 puntos, Mercedes de segunda y Aston Martin de terceros. Lo interesante es que con estos resultados McLaren sobrepasa a Alpine para ubicarse en la quinta posición. La temporada está interesante, no tanto por saber quien será el campeón porque creo que de eso no hay dudas pero en la parte más abajo la cosa si está más apretada y vistosa. Por los momentos habrá que esperar dos semanas hasta que volvamos a Hungría.

Mclaren tuvo una gran mejoría en estás últimos dos carreras de la F1, sobre todo en este gran premio de Gran Bretaña. Me sorprende mucho el bajo rendimiento de Aston Martin, aún así Alonso pido concluir séptimo a pesar de una mala pasa, aún así no tenía ritmo. Sigue el dominio de RedBull pero el piloto del día fue Norris.

Si, a mi también me sorprende el bajón de Aston Martin pero bueno, supongo que es algo común que estamos viendo esta temporada, todos los equipos pareciera que están teniendo sus momentos de lucidez y de bajones.
Lo de McLaren fue espectacular, Norris tiene mucho talento pero le falta el carro, cuando lo tenga lo veremos hacer grandes cosas.
