(ESP-ENG) Se acortaron diferencias en Imola.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
The Miami Grand Prix two weeks ago showed us a face that many fans are waiting for in Formula 1, one in which it is possible that there is a winner other than Max Verstappen, regardless of the circumstances that have been given for that to happen. While it is true that nothing different happened in yesterday's race, there are things that seem to be happening little by little. The Emilia Romagna circuit is an incredibly narrow and complicated circuit for overtaking, it has very short corners and only one DRS zone, so the only option left for something interesting to happen is a Safety Car or a Virtual Safety Car.
I say this because there was no incident yesterday and despite that the difference between Verstappen and Norris at the end of the race was less than 1 second. Last season this was unthinkable as it was very common to see differences of 15-20 seconds, absolute madness if you ask me, but something is happening in this 2024 that those distances are shortening little and the proof of it was this weekend in Italy. McLaren arrived with improvements, we are getting used to that, throughout the season they have been updating always with the intention of getting as close as possible to Red Bull and look what they have done.
Throughout the weekend, before the race, Max and the Red Bulls didn't exist, they weren't on anyone's record as they simply didn't show up. Ferrari and McLaren were the ones who were always in everyone's vogue to the point of giving them as favorites. But as it always happens at the moment of truth, the current world champion took the car and the speed from where it had not been seen and ended up taking yet another award. He did it in the pole position and obviously in the race. But there is something that is a reality and that is that this RB20 is not the same as last season, physically obviously it is not, but at the level of performance much less.
So what's going on? - What I think is happening is that the teams, at least the top teams, are doing everything in their power to close the gap and seek to be more competitive. McLaren is going that way. More was expected from Ferrari, but they were a bit behind in Imola. Mercedes is still in a darkness from which there are no indications that they can get out soon and Aston Martin, with their great list of improvements for this weekend, were again left to owe and to make a very pitiful role. The reality is that Red Bull, despite not being so fine, is still a couple of rungs above the rest.
The race was boring, very linear, stuck to the tire strategy, in theory this was for one stop but there were people who made two or went out with the wrong tires which in the end caused unexpected results, Carlos Sainz and Checo Perez were the reflection of this. Many others waited for the possibility of a Safety Car as this circuit is one where the probabilities of this happening are high but it didn't happen either. For almost 50 laps there was no change at the top of the grid, it was a perfect three-way race one after the other. It was not until these last laps when we saw some excitement and it seems that Norris was managing his tires very well to the point that gave him to accelerate and try to hunt down a Verstappen who was suffering with his hard tires.
In a few laps Lando was able to reduce the gap to less than a second but the race was running out of time. In the end Max won suffering with Norris on top of him. After the award the McLaren youngster said that if he did a couple more laps he would pass the Dutchman without any problems. This shows that even though we saw Verstappen win again it seems that Formula 1 is looking to be a bit more even again. There is still some way to go but it is getting shorter and shorter. The Red Bulls are not the same as last season, they can be beaten but for that there are still missing details. These results leave a difference between the fourth and the leader of just 60 points. Max with 161 points and Lando with 101.
The next race is next week in Monaco, a mythical circuit and very different from what we have seen. Let's hope that McLaren continues on this path of achieving good results and shortening distances with the all-powerful Red Bull, as so far they are the only ones able to face them and achieve some excitement in the races.
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.

Muchas gracias amigo, saludos!!
