(ESP-ENG) Un sorteo de la Champions que da mucho para hablar // A Champions League draw that gives plenty to talk about!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Yesterday was held the draw that would define the group stage of the next edition of the Champions League which will begin in early September. Every time these draws take place, the same topic always comes up, I talk about whether there is a black hand, that they always favor some teams and not others and the truth is that although knowing that UEFA has its dark stories and reasons to always doubt it, personally those are very remote and unlikely to happen. But if it continues to happen it is good because as I said in the title it will always be a topic of conversation that will give a lot to talk about.
The theme this year is that the groups were very interesting, in fact there are a couple of them that sincerely look to be the so-called of death and whose matches would be good not to miss them. But there are others that were a little more balanced, falling into the unequal and this is where the initial topic begins. The fact that a group is in one way or another has a lot to do with the position of the teams in the different groups which in turn depends on their performance in the last season together with the UEFA coefficient and the best example of this is group C.
Today we are going to talk a little bit about those groups that are called to be the most attractive and which I am sure will provide us with high quality matches. I believe that the groups of death are two: C and G, but with group H also very much in our sights. When you have three teams in a group that could very well be seeded, you know it will be a very difficult one. But there are also others that are extremely even, A and E for example are groups where choosing who could advance to the round of 16 could be a difficult task, they are well balanced and anything could happen. And finally there is the group of discord and the one everyone is talking about, the F, group where Real Madrid is accompanied by 3 teams that honestly do not reach them in quality and we already know what will happen.
But well, what we came to. Group C. One that arouses great morbid curiosity due to the fact that Barcelona and Bayern will meet again and because Lewandowski will return to what was his home for a few years. But Inter also has history because there was a final between the Italians and the Germans back in 2010, which was won by the Milan team by 2-0. Being teams with so much history, it is impossible that in past editions they have not met, but this is good because the matches we will have will be some of the best this season. Who can go through here? - is a very complicated question that I will try to answer with a lot of fear of being wrong.

Bayern is a powerhouse of a team, whatever players they have in their roster, what they have goes beyond names, the Bavarians can boast of their project and their vision of what soccer is and how to play it, it is a super geared team that I really do not see them being left out in the first round. Julian Nagelsmann has top players but beyond that with a style of play that is already in the DNA of the Bayern shirt, if you ask me the definition of what soccer is I would put a picture of the German team, without any doubt. Having said that, the fight for second place I'm sure will be between Barcelona and Inter.
Inter comes from being two points away from being champions in Italy, last season was one of the best in recent years for them and currently they have a perfect pace in Serie A winning their first two games. This team is not the one of a few years ago, little by little they have managed to get their identity and the level that characterized them more than 10 years ago. And Barcelona, well, we have already talked about them, a club that I still think is developing after a season to forget that has had good additions in this transfer market and with a Xavi with more and more confidence in himself and in his squad. Theirs is still a daily work where patience is and will continue to be key.
Another crossing that has history and that will also be spicy. Answering my question about who will go through, I would say Bayern 100%, but I don't see that second place at all clear, an Inter with a very good present and a Barcelona that has a very big obligation to prove that the signings have worked and want to wash their face after last season, we'll see what happens when the ball starts to roll. Let's move on to Group H, which includes PSG, Juventus and Benfica. PSG will seek, once again, to be relevant in Europe because their league does not count, it is not a top league and with the squad they have they are ready for that and more, but the detail is that when facing powerful clubs they succumb because PSG is not a united or solid team, they are soccer stars running after a ball.
It is true that they have a new coach, one that is likely to change their mentality and style, but that has to be demonstrated on the pitch. Juventus are also making moves in this market with eye-catching signings, Di Maria (who returns to France) and Pogba, but the problem for them, in my opinion, is Allegri himself, his time is over in that team, his style of play is no longer flashy and effective. And finally there is Benfica, with the curse of Béla Guttmann on them. The Portuguese will always be uncomfortable but I don't know if they are at the level of Juve and PSG. I once came to the conclusion that both PSG and Juventus are league teams not cup teams, hence why their performances are so disappointing at times. By logic it should be the Italians and French that pass but watch out for Benfica who can spoil the party very easily.

And finally we have group G, another that is highly attractive for the same reason as C, Haaland will return to what was his home and made him known. A Manchester City that owes a debt to soccer for not being able to win the "orejona" yet, I am sure Pep Guardiola wants it the most but it has been elusive. Nobody doubts the power of the citizens, they are a very solid team, with a lethal midfield and a lethal striker and like Bayern they have a style impregnated in the shirt, in addition to their undefeated pace so far in the Premier League. They will face a multiple European champion, Lopetegui's Sevilla are perhaps one of the most annoying and tedious teams on a pitch who are not having the best start of the season, they have not won and have just 1 point out of a possible 6 in La Liga.
But with the Spaniards it is the opposite of PSG and Juve, they are a cup team, they always do better in the cups so it is possible that they will surprise us this year. And last but not least Borussia Dortmund, a modest team with good players that will surely fight. They signed Haller, a goal machine to replace Haaland but he will be indisposed due to cancer, a real shame. Even so, with Adeyemi and a renewed Marcus Reus they can make a splash here. I think City is undisputed and I give the second place to the Germans, today they are a little better than the Andalusians.
These I think are the three most striking groups of this new edition of the Champions League. Group A is very good with Ajax, Liverpool, Napoli and the Scottish Rangers, honestly it is incredibly even, the most balanced of the eight, if you ask me. And Real Madrid's I think is very clear, the fight will be for second place with three very similar clubs. We will have a very good Champions League with excellent matches, we have to wait a little less than two weeks for the ball to start rolling again.
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
