La semana pasada, para ser más precisos el día martes 16, se llevaron a cabo los últimos premios del año, los The Best. Premios en lo que votan 4 grupos principales de personas: capitanes de selecciones, entrenadores de selección, periodistas y fanáticos que se hayan registrado en la página de la FIFA. Hay que decir esto para dejar las cosas claras y tener en cuenta que a pesar de la variedad de criterio que puede haber estos premios siguen siendo una completa pérdida de tiempo. Por lo menos para mi. Pero, ¿cuál es la discusión esta vez? porque es impresionante que las entregas de estos galardones nunca dejan conforme a nadie.
Last week, to be more precise, on Tuesday the 16th, the final awards of the year, The Best, were held. These awards are voted on by four main groups of people: national team captains, national team coaches, journalists, and fans who have registered on the FIFA website. This needs to be said to be clear and to keep in mind that despite the variety of criteria involved, these awards are still a complete waste of time. At least for me. But what's the discussion this time? Because it's astonishing that these awards never seem to satisfy anyone.
Hablemos de los ganadores, El The Best se lo llevó Dembélé y Aitana Bonmatí, Luis Enrique y Donnarumma; por estos lados no hay sorpresa ya que generalmente los mismos del Balón de Oro repiten acá. El asombro se produce con el 11 ideal que toda esta gente decidió que sería el mejor. Creo que la línea defensiva no tiene ningún problema, en efecto Hakimi, Pacho, Van Dijk y Nuno Mendes fueron de los mejores la temporada pasada, eso es innegable; el detalle viene cuando comenzamos a ver el medio campo. Para entrar de lleno en ese 11 faltan dos jugadores: Mbappé y Raphinha. Me parece absurdo que el brasileño no haya quedado en esas votaciones siendo de los mejores jugadores del mundo.

The Best award went to Dembélé and Aitana Bonmatí, Luis Enrique and Donnarumma; there's no surprise here, as the same players who won the Ballon d'Or usually win it again. The surprise comes with the ideal XI that everyone decided would be the best. I think the defensive line is fine; indeed, Hakimi, Pacho, Van Dijk, and Nuno Mendes were among the best last season, that's undeniable. The problem arises when we start looking at the midfield. To fully commit to that XI, two players are missing: Mbappé and Raphinha. It seems absurd to me that the Brazilian wasn't included in those votes, being one of the best players in the world.

Y ni hablar del francés quien en la temporada ha sido clave para un Real Madrid un tanto inestable y además de la Bota de Oro. Cuando vemos que estos dos jugadores se quedan fuera ya podemos prever que algo no funciona o que las personas que votan no están viendo fútbol últimamente. En cambio estos eruditos del deporte decidieron que Bellingham, un jugador que ha sido de todo menos estable en las últimas 2 temporadas con el club blanco y Cole Palmer, solo por haber ganado el mundial de Clubes, tenían que estar en dicho 11 definitivo. Quisiera entender el criterio que llevó a pensar a todas estar personas para sentarse a decir que Palmer fue mejor que Raphinha. Si usted que me lee vio fútbol este año sabe que eso no tiene ningún tipo de sentido.
And let's not even talk about the Frenchman, who has been key for a somewhat inconsistent Real Madrid this season, and who also won the Golden Boot. When we see these two players left out, we can already predict that something is wrong, or that the people voting haven't been watching football lately. However, these sports experts decided that Bellingham, a player who has been anything but consistent in the last two seasons with Real Madrid, and Cole Palmer, simply for having won the Club World Cup, had to be in the final XI. I'd like to understand the criteria that led all these people to decide that Palmer was better than Raphinha. If you, the reader, watched football this year, you know that makes absolutely no sense.
Y esto no se trata de desmeritar a nadie sino de exponer la falta de credibilidad que años tras años siguen mostrando estos premios. Por más críticas que emergen, por más disconformidad que siempre se termina generando y por la baja de audiencia (la verdad es que a casi nadie le importan estas premiaciones), siguen sin medio corregir/modificar ciertas cosas o por lo menos tener sentido común. El que es seguidor del Real Madrid y los que no también, no vinimos a mentir, sabe perfectamente que Mbappe fue bastante mejor que el inglés o por lo menos más determinante. Si de verdad hay alguien que esté de acuerdo con este 11 quisiera que me diera las razones para comprender la presencia de este par de ingleses.
This isn't about disparaging anyone, but about exposing the lack of credibility these awards continue to display year after year. Despite the criticism, the discontent that inevitably arises, and the declining viewership (the truth is, almost nobody cares about these awards), they still fail to correct or modify certain things, or at least show some common sense. Those who support Real Madrid, and those who don't as well—we're not here to lie—know perfectly well that Mbappé was far better than the Englishman, or at least more decisive. If anyone truly agrees with this starting eleven, I'd like them to explain the inclusion of these two English players.

Es verdad que siempre digo que no hay necesidad de seguir hablando de estas cosas pero cuando uno ve que estas atrocidades siguen sucediendo creo que es peor quedarse callado. Entiendo perfectamente eso de que es imposible complacer a todo el mundo y que todos estemos felices pero en este caso en concreto me atrevería a decir que la inmensa mayoría piensa igual que este servidor. No se trata de tener la razón o no, se trata de ver el fútbol con el televisor prendido, de entenderlo y sobretodo de ser objetivos. Por suerte a estos jugadores no les importa tanto estas cosas, o capaz si y se lo reservan, al final a quien no le gusta ser reconocidos. La realidad es que el lugar para demostrar valía es la cancha y no en una simple gráfica.
It's true that I always say there's no need to keep talking about these things, but when you see these atrocities continuing to happen, I think it's worse to stay silent. I completely understand that it's impossible to please everyone and for everyone to be happy, but in this specific case, I'd venture to say that the vast majority think the same as me. It's not about being right or wrong; it's about watching football on TV, understanding it, and above all, being objective. Luckily, these players don't care that much about these things, or maybe they do and they're keeping it to themselves—after all, who doesn't like to be recognized? The reality is that the place to prove your worth is on the pitch, not in a simple graphic.

Sin ánimos de menospreciar lo realizado por los demás futbolistas, creo que es muy extraño eso que mencionas, todos hablaban de Raphinha y que su temporada serviría al menos para estar en ese XI ideal, pero cierto que la temporada de Mbappe es de enmarcar, una bota de oro en una temporada "floja" del equipo pero rescatable.
Habría que ponerle un ojo mas cuidadoso al momento de ver los criterios para estos XI Ideales de la temporada.

Es por todo esto que hacerle caso a estos premios no tiene sentido, no sé con que fundamentos o mentalidad escogen o votan en las distintas categorías. No tiene ningún sentido dejar por fuera al francés ni a Raphinha; mucha mediocridad.

Es muy difícil elegir los mejores cuando hay varios que se destacan, pongamos el caso de Mbappé, ¿a quién sacarías tú? a Dembélé o Yamal, en cualquier caso habría muchos que se quejarían. También se podría poner un delantero más, pero en ese caso se debería restar un medio y sería más complicado aún porque el lugar para Raphinha sería más estrecho. Muy complicado todo.

Capaz el 4-4-2 es engañoso, un 4-3-3 es mejor y ahí si entraría Mbappé arriba y Raphinha abajo. Pero si, al restar un medio se complica todo pero igual con el 11 que eligieron Pedri no juega por el lugar donde lo pusieron así que de origen estamos mal. Por eso hablo de criterios, pareciera que no tiene sentido lo que hacen.
