(ESP-ENG) El último baile. [Opinión]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Here we are again talking about the toxic relationship par excellence that we Venezuelans have and today begins the first date of the four remaining to finalize the qualifiers for next year's World Cup. I do not remember that the Vinotinto in its recent history has had a match as transcendental as the one it will play tomorrow in Maturin against Bolivia, maybe there is one out there but I honestly do not remember it. Historically, Venezuela does not always reach these points where the options, in this case for the playoffs, are so clear and palpable, hence the massive expectation that this match is generating in the country.
Referring to the “last dance” may sound a bit tragic and forceful but I cannot find a better expression to encompass the opportunity that the national team has to materialize a historic step for Venezuela. It is true that after tomorrow there will be 3 more matches but the detail is the particularity that surrounds this Venezuela-Bolivia match. Those from the Altiplano have 14 points, ours have 15 points and are in seventh place in the playoffs. Obviously, they are our most direct rivals at the moment and we have to focus on them, even when we are not playing. And the latter is important because of the following.
The fact that this match in question is tomorrow and not today has a reason for being, which is none other than to give the Bolivians a day's rest for their match against Chile on Tuesday. As it is clear, this also affects us, but in the end they are the ones who travel and that, my friends, is very tiring. They are legal tricks that were used at federative level to ask for the change of date. But none of this will help, these moves and the support of the fans that go to the field tomorrow if the players do not believe in the role they are going to play. I have always said it and until there is a noticeable change I will not stop doing it but the real problem of this selection and these players is the mentality so little winning that they have with everything and that many are in Europe playing.
That Bocha has made wrong decisions in some games? - Yes, has there been a misreading of the games and therefore a wrong tactical stance? - Maybe, but I am one of those who think that this is not everything. For that game mode and the interplay between the players to work, there has to be a kind of synergy on the field that accompanies them at all times and that, dear reader, is what is missing in this team. There have been many games in which the soul, the desire, the grit and above all the heart have remained in the locker room and what we end up seeing are 10 people running after a ball without ideas, like chickens without heads.
The Venezuelan team arrives with only one important absence, that of Yordan Osorio who could not recover in time. The rest of the squad is complete, except for one or two players who are suffering from ailments, such as Soteldo. There are no excuses for not being victorious tomorrow, I feel that there are many more things in favor than against and that is saying enough. I'm not talking about the starting 11 because as I said in the end it doesn't matter so much, what will matter is the intention of the game which should be, yes or yes, offensive. Venezuela has to go for the game from minute 1, there can be no hesitation in this regard, there can be no passivity and wait until the second half for the revulsive players to come in; the objective is to win no matter what and if it can be consolidated from the very beginning of the game, then so much the better.
The last dance is tomorrow, a negative result will take us almost completely away from any possibility for the playoffs, since Uruguay, Argentina and the closing match with Colombia await us. I think there is no need to mention the power of these three teams, although the Cafeteros are going through a little bad streak and the Uruguayans will be on Tuesday with several casualties. The match is tomorrow, we will see how they face it and with chip they go out to fight the illusion of going to a first World Cup.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
