(ESP-ENG) Emociones bajo la lluvia de Silverstone.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
The British Grand Prix is positioned as the best so far this season and it has been a long time since so many things have happened at the same time in a race. Silverstone is one of the mythical circuits of Formula 1, on its track there is too much history, many have won and yesterday was no exception to the rule. A young Briton and a German with 15 years of experience and 239 races under his belt were the happiest men together with the thousands of fans who were perhaps happier for one than for the other. And all this accompanied by an inclement rain and a radiant sun.
I am talking first about Nico Hulkenberg, that driver that everyone loves for being a guy who never gives up and that even knowing that he is in a car that is not capable of opting for many things yesterday decided to go from 19th place to the podium of the race. Not only did he finish third, but he did a spectacular prize, managing to hold off a Lewis Hamilton for more than 10 laps thanks to the perfect strategy of the team and his expertise behind the wheel. Rain is undoubtedly a factor that makes some drivers stand out more than others (inexplicably for me), but it is a reality. As a fan of this sport I was very much flirting that Hamilton did not manage to overtake him even if it meant losing the streak of podiums he had since 2014 but seeing Nico celebrate, the whole Sauber team, his daughter and the drivers themselves is priceless.
A curious fact is that the Sauber people did not have champagne so Mercedes and Aston Martin gave them bottles so that everyone could celebrate. This is Formula 1. So is F1 everything that happened on track thanks to the rain. The 5 rookies were eliminated, this tells us about the experience you have to have to race at Silverstone although Colapinto is more Alpine's fault. Let's start with McLaren and how they again humiliated the rest on track, more than 30 seconds over the third is an absolute barbarity, I am very surprised by the level and the difference they managed to make with the rest, it is abysmal and it seems that at the moment they have no competition. Norris was crowned in the middle of a controversy, should Piastri have been penalized, and if the answer is yes, why didn't anything happen to Russell in Canada? - I leave it to you, dear readers.
Mercedes and Ferrari were an absolute disaster, the ones from Maranello are more used to this but it is always impressive to see those decisions. Leclerc changing to medium tires with a wet track and threat of rain at the beginning of the race, Hamilton being called to pit in the middle of the “fight” for third place against Hulkenberg; and Mercedes putting hard tires on Russell to close the race when the option was the medium tires; a total nonsense what happened in both teams. The Monaco driver was never able to recover from that mistake and Russell was almost out of the points, he finished P10. Toto Wolff's team does not always make these mistakes but in Ferrari it is a constant, it is always an unnecessary drama.
Red Bull is still only Verstappen. The Dutchman finished P5 after having fallen a lot thanks to a spin he gave after one of the many SC that happened in the award for having cold tires. He still managed to climb and close in a slightly more decent position. Tsunoda doesn't exist, he was last yesterday and sanctioned to boot. People were complaining about Lawson but what the Japanese is doing is sad and it's a shame because I don't think he's a bad driver. Aston Martin scored with both cars, a rare thing to see but Stroll in the rain seemed to be the best driver on the grid. With these results things moved a bit in both the drivers' and teams' standings.
Nico Hulkenberg moved up to ninth position with 37 points, that podium gave him a lot of life. Norris (226) with the victory continues to cut Piastri (234) and the gap is now just 8 points while Max is now 165 points behind. As for the teams, McLaren's dominance is still overwhelming, 238 points ahead of Ferrari in second place. Red Bull is far out of the fight and I repeat, Verstappen is alone. In the end we had a spectacular race with countless SC, retirements, penalties, strategies, controversies and above all emotions, we witnessed a very emotional Silverstone. The next race is in almost 3 weeks at the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos leemos en la próxima!
Well friends, that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Best regards to all of you, see you next time!

Saludos!!
