(ESP-ENG) Hablemos del mundial de clubes. [Opinión]
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
This new competition, invented by Gianni Infantino, has been criticized since before it started: that it would not be an attractive tournament for the fans, it is one that threatens the physical integrity of the players due to the excessive schedule they already have, the price of the tickets which were very expensive and the most recent one that has to do with the infernal heat that is being experienced in the courts with temperatures of almost 30 degrees Celsius. If we make an x-ray of how the games have been so far in this first round of matches, I think we could say that things have not started so badly.
Personally I have mixed opinions and on the one hand it is true that on the one hand it is true that there are too many matches that these teams have played, between the leagues, European cups and FIFA dates the calendar is a killer. But as a soccer fan to see these matches that would very rarely be seen between Boca-Bayern, Botafogo-PSG, Real Madrid-Pachuca, the truth is that I will not deny that it attracts my attention. One of the most critical is Javier Tebas, the president of the Spanish League, yes, the same one who decided that the Spanish Super Cup will be played in Arabia, making the teams make that unnecessary trip to the East. In addition to talking about the calendar, he says that the level shown in the matches is poor and put as a reference the first meeting of Chelsea.
I have not seen all the matches but I have seen a few of them. The Boca-Benfica was a crazy match basically because of the intensity and the controversies, the Inter-Monterrey was also interesting to watch; what PSG did to Cholo Simeone's Atletico was a massacre that showed the high level of the French under Luis Enrique; Madrid's performance yesterday against Al Hilal was mainly due to the debut of Xabi Alonso and Simone Inzaghi after his time at Inter and finally Juventus had a quiet night against Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates. And beware, this is only the first round, I think we will see the real matches starting today.
So, can I agree with Mr. Tebas? - In short, no. As it has always been said, money is what moves everything, even him, and if it were not so, it would not be played in Arabia. I think that since he does not benefit economically from all this, he uses the card of concern towards the players and that due to fatigue there is no intensity on the fields to show his "dissatisfaction". It must be taken into account that this World Cup will be every four years, so I would like to assume that for 2029 they will look for a way to make the dates not so tight if this is a real problem for the clubs in the medium or long term.
I think the serious problems could come in the preseason or even at the beginning of the different leagues. This overload will take its toll at some point and will end up affecting the clubs that played in this World Cup and the national teams that will meet again in September. I don't want to be a prophet of doom, but you don't have to be a fortune teller to know that the risk of injuries is increasing. Anyway, I think this Club World Cup is going to continue to be talked about, I think it is an interesting idea but unnecessary in the sense that nothing would happen if this did not exist. That we are still going to continue watching the matches? - Of course we will. In the round of 16 is when we will really see the quality of these matches and if the clubs or players are really interested in winning this tournament. We are talking about almost 150 MM euros for the champion, so the answer is more than obvious.
Well my people, that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡Hugs to all of you, see you next time!

Saludos!
