(ESP-ENG) La Champions y sus cuartos de final. [Opinión]

Hace casi 1 semana se conocieron los enfrentamientos para los cuartos de final de la Champions League que se jugarán dentro de poco menos de 2 semanas. Ocho equipos que podrían ser de los mejores en sus respectivas ligas y a que ahora se verán las caras en Europa. A estas alturas hablar de favoritos creería yo que es cada vez más complicado por lo visto en los octavos de final donde casi todos terminaron accediendo de manera holgada sus eliminatorias. El cuadro está conformado para que exista un Bayern - Barcelona lo cual sería super interesante, un PSG - Barca o la posibilidad de un clásico en la final, un Real Madrid - Barcelona sería impresionante. Pero también es verdad que ese mismo cuadro tiene en mismo lado a los pesos pesados de la competición mientras que en el otro pareciera que la balanza es un poco más liviana.

PSG, Liverpool, Bayern y Madrid, por este lado hay 28 Champions ganadas; por el otro pues está el Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Arsenal y Sporting de Lisboa; acá hay solo 5. Según yo lo veo al haber tanto peso de un lado las posibilidades de que una final no sea tan llamativa son importantes. ¿Y por qué lo digo? - pues como ya hablé en una publicación anterior en una misma llave están probablemente dos de los clubes con menos mística ganadora: Los dirigidos por Arteta y el Cholo Simeone respectivamente. Pero bueno, quiero pensar que como estamos en Champions League capaz saquen algo de casta y den un buen espectáculo considerando que uno de los equipos que quisiera que ganara es el propio Arsenal.

PSG-Liverpool. Yo acá tengo que ponerle la ficha de favorito a los franceses y es que la forma en como despacharon al Chelsea con un marcador global de 8-2 fue notable. El PSG en Francia está muy cómodo, tienen una plantilla que sigue jugando bastante bien con algunos de los mejores jugadores del mundo en ciertas posiciones. El Liverpool por otro lado viene con una inestabilidad importante, perdieron con el Galatasaray en la ida pero si que es verdad que después ganaron 4-0. En la Premier están de sextos a 21 puntos del líder y en sus últimos 5 partidos solo han ganado dos. Honestamente no veo al Liverpool accediendo a semifinales, no está ese dominio de años anteriores. Capaz me equivoque porque al final esto es la Champions League pero si, el PSG es el amplio favorito acá.

Con el Bayern - Real Madrid si tengo que decir que es un partido de pronóstico reservado, no soy capaz de dar un posible ganador. Los blancos puede que estén medio escalón por debajo frente a los bávaros y ahora con la lesión de Courtois pues más aún. De todas maneras pareciera que con Arbeloa las cosas se están enderezando un poco, el técnico español tiene un buen record con los merengues y se ve a un equipo jugando ligeramente mejor que hace un par de meses. El Bayern es una máquina aplanadora, humilló al Atalanta 10-2 en el global y en la Bundesliga están sólidos en lo más alto con 11 puntos de diferencia. Los datos actuales dan como "favoritos" a los alemanes pero sabemos lo del Real Madrid en Champions y su "aura". Imposible pronosticar algo.

El Barca nuevamente se verá las caras con el Atlético de Madrid. Estos dos se verán las caras 3 veces en 10 días, una por Liga y dos por Champions. La espina de los culés por haber quedado eliminados en la Copa del Rey por los colchoneros será el impulso para dejarlos fuera de esta edición. Creo firmemente que los blaugranas son los amplios favoritos para acceder a semis y porque no, para ser campeones. No veo a los del Cholo dejando fuera a los de Flick, capaz les pongan las cosas complicadas pero el nivel que viene demostrando este Barca es muy bueno además de que vienen enchufados con la creencia de que realmente pueden hacer historia en la Champions. Esta llave será intensa, hay mucha historia reciente entre este par de equipos como para pensar de que todo será tranquilo.

Barcelona will once again face Atlético Madrid. These two will meet three times in ten days: once in La Liga and twice in the Champions League. The sting of being eliminated from the Copa del Rey by Atlético will be the driving force for Barça to knock them out of this edition. I firmly believe that the Blaugrana are the overwhelming favorites to reach the semifinals and, why not, to win the title. I don't see Simeone's team eliminating Flick's; they might make things difficult, but the level this Barça side has been showing is very high, and they're coming into this match fired up with the belief that they can truly make history in the Champions League. This tie will be intense; there's too much recent history between these two teams to expect a smooth ride.

Y finalmente tenemos al Arsenal - Sporting de Lisboa. Ojalá y los ingleses pudieran acceder después del papelón en la Carabao Cup. Cualquiera pensaría que tienen plantilla suficiente para hacerlo además de que en Premier están sobrados con 11 puntos de ventaja en el liderato. Pero conociendo el historial no nos extrañe que los portugueses den la sorpresa. Dicho esto los ingleses son los favoritos para llegar a las semis. Veremos que nos depara esta Champions en unos cuantos días.

And finally, we have Arsenal vs. Sporting Lisbon. Hopefully, the English side can advance after their Carabao Cup debacle. You'd think they have a squad strong enough to do so, especially considering their comfortable 11-point lead in the Premier League. But knowing their history, it wouldn't be surprising if the Portuguese pull off an upset. That said, the English side are the favorites to reach the semifinals. We'll see what this Champions League has in store for us in a few days.
