(ESP-ENG) Octavos de final, ¿equilibrados? - [Opinión]

El día viernes se realizó el sorteo para definir los cruces de los octavos de final a disputarse la semana que viene. Había mucha expectativa por los partidos que de allí podían nacer pero sobretodo con uno en particular y es que existía la posibilidad de que se volvieran a ver las caras por sexta vez en los últimos 7 años. Y si, el Real Madrid y el Manchester City se van a volver a ver las caras. Tengo sentimientos encontrados porque no se si alegrarme o sentir un poco de pereza por ver de nuevo el mismo partido; no vamos a negar que de todas formas es y serán unos partidazos pero es extraño o por lo menos curioso tanta casualidad en estas últimas ediciones.
The draw for the Round of 16, to be played next week, took place on Friday. There was a lot of anticipation surrounding the potential matches, but especially one in particular: the possibility of Real Madrid and Manchester City facing each other for the sixth time in the last seven years. And yes, Real Madrid and Manchester City will meet again. I have mixed feelings because I don't know whether to be happy or a little weary of seeing the same match again. We can't deny that these are always fantastic matches, but it's strange, or at least curious, how many coincidences there have been in recent editions.
Otra de las cosas que están siendo motivo de debate es la forma en cómo quedó conformado el cuadro de cruces especialmente para el Real Madrid y para el Barcelona en cuanto a la "dificultad". Sabemos que en Champions no hay nada escrito, sino preguntenle al Bodo/Glimt, y que cualquier club puede dar la gran sorpresa pero si que es cierto que hay un lado en donde pareciera haber un poco más de "peso" que en el otro. Esto no significa que vaya a ser menos complicado para uno que para el otro pero si es notable que los caminos son bastante diferentes. Nunca he defendido la tesis de la "mano negra" o de que hay bolas del sorteo más pesadas que otras pero al mismo tiempo siempre pasan cosas curiosas.
Another point of contention is how the Champions League draw was structured, especially for Real Madrid and Barcelona, in terms of perceived difficulty. We know that in the Champions League, nothing is certain—just ask Bodø/Glimt—and that any club can pull off a major upset. However, it's true that one side of the bracket seems to have a bit more weight than the other. This doesn't mean it will be less difficult for one team than the other, but it's noticeable that their paths are quite different. I've never subscribed to the idea of foul play or that some balls in the draw are heavier than others, but at the same time, curious things always happen.
La forma de saber si algo está equilibrado o no es ponerlo en una balanza: de un lado hay 31 Champions, del otro hay 5. Este dato no afecta en el juego de hoy en día pero es una estadística más. De lo más interesante que veo es el Chelsea-PSG, la reedición de la final del mundial de clubes en donde los franceses buscarán venganza de aquel 3-0. A los ingleses capaz no los veo tan fuertes pero es que el PSG sufrió bastante con el Mónaco para acceder a estos octavos así que puede que estemos ante una eliminatoria muy pareja. El partido que llama más la atención es ese Madrid-City. Ninguno de los dos viene arrasando, están cómodos en sus respectivas ligas pero en lo que a juego se refiere están dejando mucho que desear, están muy lejos de ser los clubes dominantes de años anteriores.
The way to tell if something is balanced or not is to put it on a scale: on one side there are 31 Champions League titles, on the other there are 5. This fact doesn't affect the game today, but it's another statistic. The most interesting match I see is Chelsea-PSG, a rematch of the Club World Cup final where the French side will be looking for revenge for that 3-0 defeat. I might not see the English side as that strong, but PSG struggled quite a bit against Monaco to reach the round of 16, so we could be looking at a very even tie. The match that draws the most attention is Real Madrid-Manchester City. Neither team has been dominating; they're comfortable in their respective leagues, but in terms of their play, they're leaving much to be desired. They're far from being the dominant clubs of previous years.
Por todo lo demás veo al Liverpool accediendo, no se yo si el Galatasaray será capaz de bajar a los inglese y el Bayern es una máquina casi perfecta, al Atalanta no le alcanza. Ahora si cruzamos el charco hay mucha más incertidumbre ya que pareciera que todo está más "parejo". A manera de burla he leido mucho que este lado es de la Europa League o la Conference. El Newcastle va pésimo en la Premier y le ganó a un equipo modesto en playoff. Este Barcelona viene entonado y jugando realmente bien, hay que ver como termina todo mañana en la vuelta de la Copa del Rey pero diría que es uno de los candidatos para llevarse a la "Orejona" este año, además de que los culés ya saben lo que ganarle a los ingleses en Champions. Lo cómico de esto es que pudieran verse OTRA VEZ con el Atlético del Cholo en unos posibles cuartos de final pero para eso tendrían que ganarle a un Tottenham que está a dos posiciones del descenso en la Premier pero que terminó CUARTO en la liguilla de esta Champions,
For everything else, I see Liverpool advancing. I don't know if Galatasaray will be able to take down the English side, and Bayern is a near-perfect machine; Atalanta just can't keep up. Now, if we cross the pond, there's much more uncertainty since it seems like everything is more "even." I've jokingly read a lot that this side belongs to the Europa League or the Conference. Newcastle is doing terribly in the Premier League and beat a modest team in the playoffs. This Barcelona team is in good form and playing really well. We'll have to see how it all ends tomorrow in the second leg of the Copa del Rey, but I'd say they're one of the candidates to win the Champions League this year. Besides, Barça already knows what it takes to beat English teams in the Champions League. The funny thing is that they could face Atlético Madrid AGAIN in a possible quarter-final, but for that, they'd have to beat a Tottenham side that's two places above the relegation zone in the Premier League but finished FOURTH in their Champions League group.
Espero que el Bodo/Glimt siga haciendo historia y llegue lo más lejos que pueda llegar, viendo a los equipos que ha vencido en su paso por esta Champions uno creería que el Sporting de Lisboa no sería rival pero veremos, los portugueses están haciendo una gran temporada. Y por último tenemos al Arsenal, el equipo que quisiera que ganara, contra el Leverkusen que no es el mismo de Xabi Alonso. Lo del Arsenal viene siendo impresionante, en la Premier son líderes indiscutibles y terminaron líderes invictos de la liguilla inicial de esta Champions. Junto al Barcelona considero que son los verdaderos equipos a vencer. Si todo les sale bien, se pueden ver en una semifinales y la final pudiera ser un Clásico. Creo que los octavos serán muy entretenidos, hay partidos muy interesantes que más allá de sus nombres por lo que ofrecen a nivel de juego serán llamativos.
I hope Bodø/Glimt continues to make history and goes as far as they can. Looking at the teams they've beaten in this Champions League, you'd think Sporting Lisbon wouldn't be a match, but we'll see. The Portuguese side is having a great season. And finally, we have Arsenal, the team I'd like to see win, against Leverkusen, who aren't the same Leverkusen side that Xabi Alonso played under. Arsenal's performance has been impressive; they're the undisputed leaders in the Premier League and finished top of the Champions League group stage undefeated. Along with Barcelona, I think they're the teams to beat. If everything goes well for them, we could see them in the semifinals, and the final could be a Clásico. I think the round of 16 will be very entertaining; there are some very interesting matches that, beyond the names of the teams involved, will be captivating for their quality of play.

La verdad es que no entiendo mucho sobre cómo quedaron conformados ambos grupos. Pero, la verdad es que está bastante desequilibrado y es muy difícil que la semifinal no sea entre Barcelona y Arsenal.
De la otra parte, Real Madrid está jugando muy mal y el City le va a pasar por arriba.
Me parece que en esta llave el equipo a derrotar será el Bayer.

Coincido, creo que el Bayern será el club a vencer, capaz con el Chelsea. El Barcelona tiene todas las de salir victorioso, el Arsenal es el unico que le puede dar pelea pero si se enfocan tienen el camino allanado.
