(ESP-ENG) Un Marzo lleno de buen deporte. [Opinión]

Marzo ha llegado y con él unos días que prometen ser muy buenos para todos los amantes y fanáticos del deporte en general y es que tendremos de todo un poco para todos los gustos. Realmente el año 2026 es bastante bueno pero especialmente Marzo al igual que Junio-Julio serán demás especiales. Pero, ¿que va a pasar durante ese mes? - pues comencemos por lo que inicia mañana. A la 1pm, hora de Venezuela, empieza el Clásico Mundial de Béisbol, en donde nuestra selección se verá las caras con los Países Bajos. Las ganas las tengo de ver lo que este equipo puede ofrecer a pesar de las bajas que hemos venido sufriendo y sobretodo por la espina que estoy seguro se van a querer sacar después de lo ocurrido en el último clásico.

I'm eager to see what this team can offer despite the losses we've been experiencing, and especially because I'm sure they'll be eager to avenge what happened in the last Classic.

Venezuela tuvo dos partidos de preparación/exhibición, los dos los perdió. Los Astros de Houston y los Nacionales de Washington (3-1 y 5-1 respectivamente) fueron sus verdugos en par de juegos en donde la ofensiva estuvo dormida profundamente y es que hacer dos carreras en 18 innings no es algo muy esperanzador. Creo que lo que mejor tenemos es la defensa, el infield es una locura por los nombres que lo conforman pero si no se batea tendremos problemas. Esperemos que los bates respondan a partir de mañana porque acá es ganar o ganar, no hay tiempo para adaptarse. Más allá de esto creo que será un gran espectáculo, a los que nos gusta el beisbol vamos a disfrutar mucho este torneo.

Venezuela played two exhibition games, losing both. The Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals (3-1 and 5-1 respectively) were their executioners in a pair of games where the offense was completely dormant. Scoring two runs in 18 innings isn't very encouraging. I think our best asset is our defense; the infield is incredible because of the names on it, but if we don't hit, we'll have problems. Let's hope the bats start coming tomorrow because it's win or go home; there's no time to adjust. Beyond that, I think it will be a great spectacle. Pero no solo es el Clásico lo que empieza este fin de semana, la nueva temporada de Fórmula 1 también sube el telón con el primer gran premio de Australia. Personalmente estoy muy impaciente con lo que veremos este año ya que son muchos cambios los que hay tantoa nivel de pilotos y equipos como de reglamento y de mecánica de los autos. De hecho ya se ha visto un poco de desastre gracias a estos cambios que la FIA a buscado implementar; tanto es así que Aston Martin no está preparado para correr, el auto no da y se han planteado retirarse de este primer premio. Este es uno de los tanto ejemplos que pueden haber a puertas cerradas dentro del paddock. 22 pilotos y 11 equipos corriendo en pista será muy interesante de ver ya que el Checo Pérez y Bottas llegan con muchas ganas.

Expectante también por ver esa lucha por el campeonato, el equipo a vencer según lo visto en pretemporada es Mercedes, Ferrari también tiene buenas sensaciones pero igual no hay que olvidarse de los actuales campeones, McLaren y obviamente de un tal Max Verstappen. Entre ellos 4 estará la lucha por el liderato. Hay que ver como terminan funcionando esos autos con los motores nuevos además con la intriga de que por lo que está sucediendo en el medio oriente es posible que Bahréin, Arabia Saudita y Azerbaiyán se bajen del calendario dada la inestabilidad y la peligrosidad que puede suponer hacer una carrera en esas tierras. Hay que estar atentos a las actualizaciones de la FIA pero por lo pronto a disfrutar de Australia este fin de semana.

I'm also eager to see the championship battle. Based on preseason testing, Mercedes is the team to beat. Ferrari also has a good feeling, but we can't forget the current champions, McLaren, and of course, Max Verstappen. The fight for the lead will be among these four. We'll have to see how the cars perform with the new engines, and there's the added intrigue that, given the situation in the Middle East, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Azerbaijan might be dropped from the calendar due to the instability and potential dangers of holding a race there. We'll have to keep an eye on FIA updates, but for now, let's enjoy Australia this weekend.

Y para ir cerrando tenemos dos noticias del futbol. La primera pues los octavos de final a disputarse la semana que viene, ya hablamos de eso el día lunes pero es otro de los ingredientes interesantes de este mes de marzo y la segunda novedad es la aparente suspensión de la Finalissima que se iba a jugar en Catar pero que por las mismas razones antes mencionadas no se va a poder disputar por allá. El día de mañana hay una reunión para definir la nueva sede que todo apunta será en Europa, Italia o Inglaterra, más específicamente. Así que tendremos este gran partido a finales de mes entre Españas y Argentina, campeón de Eurocopa y campeón de Copa América. Como ven, este mes de marzo es impresionante y para todos los gustos, no queda de otra que sentarse a disfrutar.

And to wrap things up, we have two football news items. First, the Round of 16 matches will be played next week. We already talked about that on Monday, but it's another exciting addition to this March. The second piece of news is the apparent postponement of the Finalissima, which was to be played in Qatar. For the same reasons mentioned earlier, it won't be possible to play there. Tomorrow there's a meeting to decide on the new venue, which all signs point to being in Europe, specifically Italy or England. So, we'll have this great match at the end of the month between Spain and Argentina, the European and Copa América champions, respectively. As you can see, this March is amazing and has something for everyone. There's nothing left to do but sit back and enjoy it.
