Oh the cookies and the charcuterie! Actifit: December 12 2019

Guys, this season is not going well from an exercise and calorie management perspective. I get it why people just give up and decide to take up the staff again in a January with fresh motivation. The treats and tempting high calorie foods are all around us, and meanwhile we get too busy with holiday events and preparations to get our usual amount of exercise. It’s a total double whammy!

This week, for example, one of our vendors sent us a tower of Harry and David’s treats at work, and I’ve had two evening events involving merriment, food and wine. Tonight was my annual book club Christmas event, and there was a giant food spread. Look at this amazing charcuterie board!

So, where am I going with this? My point, and I do have one, is that we don’t have to completely give up our health regimen in the face of all these temptations. If you’re tempted to say “Ef it, I’m just giving up on trying to be healthy until after the holidays,” well don’t. Why? Because then you’re turning a double whammy — more food and less exercise — into a triple whammy! Now you’ve added total abandon, which can add up to thousands of excess calories a day.

And in January, you’ve got a much deeper hole to dig out of. So, just maintain as much control as you can. You will feel so much better, and you’ll have much less of a debt to pay later!

Thanks for reading!

This year seems sooooo much harder than in years past! I'm not sure if it's the weather, the season, lack of sunshine......all the above? Anyway, good job with your 8135 @actifit steps! Have a lovely night!

Oh gosh, me too! I have no idea why! I seem to be developing an attitude that “you only live once! But I’m really going to work at enjoying small amounts. It makes a big difference!

Agreed! Even if I am not watching my intake, I scale back around the holidays as there is too much out there. If I am watching it, I agree with you. Stay on it and cheat a little when you must. I find I don't really cheat when I allow myself to. LOL

I'm so complicated! LOL

Ha ha. That’s good! Cheating is kind of a slippery slope, so it’s best if you can stay at the top of the hill! 😆

A few sample size bites never hurt anyone!
It's usually the desserts and "liquid" calories people forget about watching and limiting this time of year that show up on the scale and around the waist.

Remember, everything in moderation and drink extra glasses of water at parties to fill you up!

Enjoy the merriment! Cheers! 📯🧀🍷🍇🎻

"total abandon" sounds really... ominous. Nice linguistic tactic to scare yourself into keeping up the good work :)

Moderation works great. But the whole food barometer gets out of whack over the holidays! It’s like the moderation reference point moves! 😁
