Rain rain go away - Actifit Report: March 28 2020

This is a combination of my Actifit post from yesterday, which didn’t post for some odd reason, and today. It rained all day today, sometimes in torrents, sometimes accompanied by thunder and lightning. I never even stepped out of the house. Fortunately we are still working through the provisions we put together so we could be prepared for the lockdown.

So I got all of my steps today from doing things around the house — sweeping, cooking, dishes, etc. — plus a lot of aerobics and walking in place in front of the TV. The rest of this post is the one I wrote yesterday when I actually got out for a walk, though I did get caught in the rain.

So here’s the weather pattern we are locked into right now (at least during the work week): I wake up to sunny skies and beautiful pleasant mornings. By mid-afternoon a few clouds start rolling in. I watch out the window of the dining room (my office during lockdown) as I attend virtual meetings and scramble to meet deadlines and get everything done. Throughout the afternoon the sky darkens, the sun becomes completely obscured by clouds and by the time I am done with work it is a depressing pale color out — steel gray skies and ugly brown leaves. And that’s the scenery I get to enjoy on my walk!

But I did have the pleasure of walking past a house that always decorates their entire yard for every holiday. They are ready for Easter!

I also walked past a lake which is busy melting. The geese and ducks actually like the ice because they can walk or rest in the ice or swim in the water. They have options!

A friend of mine lives in one of those houses across the lake. Well... it’s merely a pond as far as she’s concerned. But still, how nice just to be able to go catch a fish or drop a kayak in! (In warmer weather, of course.)

The lockdown is to be active for the next few weeks. Here’s hoping it will be enough, that it will slow the spread of the virus and keep it from exploding here in the U.S. I am hopeful, but not confident.
