My Wednesday Walk - harbors and trails - Actifit: September 1 2021

Tonight I really needed to be out in the fresh air, as I’ve been cooped up working on deadlines. So I was glad to hear that some friends wanted to meet up for a concert in the park.

I parked three miles away and walked. My husband needed to finish some work and was going to bring our chairs and meet me there.

It was a beautiful evening for a walk!

Once I passed the marina, I was on woodsy trails for most of my walk. It was quite serene.

But I also passed some cute gardens!

And I saw a tree that is getting ready for fall!

When I finally got to the concert, I met up with one friend, but the others were delayed, and never actually arrived. (Queue the ominous music. This is when things started going wrong.)

My husband was delayed as well, so it was just the two of us (with no chairs) and so we ended up getting some tacos from a food truck and sitting on the ground.

Then all of a sudden the music stopped and we realized the band shell had gone dark. We waited a while, thinking maybe the band was on a break.

Finally a light-up digital sign powered by a generator displayed a notice that there was a power outage and the band hoped to finish their set once the work crews fixed the outage.

Meanwhile, my friend went to get us a couple of beers, but the beer tent said they could only accept cash because their POS system was down due to the outage!

Finally we picked up and walked to a nearby bar.

I have to say, even though so many unexpected things happened, it was a really fun evening. I enjoyed catching up with my friend, and sitting on chairs instead of the hard ground was awesome. My husband joined us after a bit, and I didn’t have to figure out how to get back to my car on the trail in the dark!

Things do usually work out in the end. So when things aren’t going according to plan, I try to remember just to chill, and go along for the ride.
