Wednesday Walk - Wild Turkeys and Other Odds and Ends - Actifit: September 22 2021
My husband and son wanted to meet at a restaurant for dinner this evening, but they were coming from another direction and I decide to just set out on foot and meet them there. And then after dinner I decide to walk home as well, taking a longer route. Here is the very silly hodge podge of things I saw on my walk!
It all started with a couple of turkeys. At first I assumed they were a couple but then I realized they are probably both hens. The males are much bigger. Ive actually seen males a few times all fluffed out with their plumage up, showing off for the ladies. It’s spectacular to see.
The next shot is of my dinner. I told you this was a silly collection! We were at a bbq restaurant, and the guys got ribs. I went for a chicken Caesar salad with light dressing. What a party pooper!
Then I saw a big flock of turkeys!
Next, a few pictures from walking along the road at dusk. Normally when I walk I am on trails, but tonight I was just walking around my little suburban area.
We are just starting to see fall colors. It seems to be coming late this year.
I also saw some deer and some pretty gardens, as well as a garden owl designed to keep birds and small critters out of a garden.

Beautiful birds and deers. We generally don't see hens or turkeys walking on the roads but either caged at shops or in a zoo. We don't see deers walking freely like this but again in a zoo or deer parks. Oh yes, we often see kangaroos back in Australia walking freely everywhere and strays at my present location including dogs and cats. Nice pictures.
Is it true that kangaroos are really dangerous? I recall reading that more people are killed by kangaroos than... I can't remember what. Sharks? Car accidents? People with too much time on their hands love to collect these stats. 😆
I have never heard kangaroos hurt people unless you provoke them. I walked past them often during the last bushfire when a large number of Kangaroos were all over the places in Canberra. The only danger we faced was they pooed everywhere in front and backyard and we had to arrange for cleaning that.
