My flower walk — Actifit: May 23 2022

It is spring! Spring has sprung! For a very brief time we will have flowering trees and shrubs - lilac and dogwood and cherry — oh my!

Be warned because some of the flowers I am about to share with you are actually weeds. But they are pretty right now too.

These are all pictures from my neighborhood walk this evening. Let’s start with the lilacs! They are so lovely and their fragrance is amazing. It is tragic how quickly they come and go. Which color is your favorite?

Okay now for some weeds. First we have the lovely dandelion. Side note: Today my daughter asked the neighbors across the street if they spray any chemicals on their lawn, and when they said no she asked if she could pick their dandelions. Why? Because she is making dandelion jelly! She finds the most interesting activities on YouTube and TikTok.

But this dandelion is from my walk.

And here are a few dandelions that have gone to seed. Don’t you just want to pick them and blow those seeds everywhere?

Next is Creeping Charlie — an insidious weed that will take over an entire yard and garden if you turn your back on it.

Next up: garlic mustard. Also edible — not to mention fragrant like garlic — garlic mustard is an invasive weed. Every year I pull as much as I can from my property.

And then — wild pansies??

The next group is more flowering trees. The aroma in the air as I was walking around was amazing!
