The walk to the lake

I’ve posted about this particular trail a number of times, but it never gets old to me, especially because it looks so different in every season and at different times of day.

We see a lot of wildlife — especially deer, of course. But also bunnies, turtles, frogs, muskrats, ducks and geese, as there ponds along the way.

Can you see the deer in this picture?

They are so well camouflaged this time of year, before the greenery bursts forth. Here I’ve zoomed in on one of them.

The reward at the halfway point of the walk, before we turn back and retrace our steps, is the lake. Soon we will have gorgeous sunny days and the boat owners will be out enjoying cruises around the lake and to various restaurants, islands and fishing spots.

But for now we just get a look at the sullen gray lake and the first few boats that are venturing out.

Time for the walk back!
