The garden cleanup continues: April 27 2025
My backyard is a mess in the early spring! Once the snow melts and our first few rain and wind storms have blown through, it’s time to get out and clean up the remaining leaves from the fall, as well as fallen branches and other debris.
It takes me days to get it all done! As you can see from these pictures, there are leaves absolutely everywhere and there is a lot to do. I spent the entire afternoon raking and bagging leaves, picking up fallen branches, piling the branches in a burn pile, etc.
It’s a start!
For reference, here is a picture of the yard taken in the summertime, from the other side of the yard (beyond the treehouse and the trampoline).
So once it’s all tidied up and the grass and foliage turn green, it will be worth all the effort! And I will get a lot of steps along the way.
Thanks for stopping by!

Your town’s Public Works site accepts leaves up until May 10th.
They’re such slackers there. I brought some brush there yesterday and they didn’t even glance at my I.D.
That is hilarious, @preparedwombat. All these years you thought you were an outsider. Turns out you could have been using our leaf drop off even before you moved to town!
I didn’t know Minnesota got wind storms!😳
All the cleanup efforts are worth the effort, the yard looks great in the summer!😎
Oh yes. We get all the storms, @silvertop! Every type, including hail storms, lightning storms and tornadoes. We are only exempt from hurricanes!
Thankfully we do not have tornadoes in the northwest!!!😇
Once or twice in 25 years, we have had what they call microburst.... baby tornado Lol!
Growing up in Cincinnati, we lived on what was called tornado alley! I saw houses leveled to their basement foundation, two-story farm houses with one side removed like a dollhouse.... scary!!😬
You have lots of work there.
That's a lot of work, but I focused on the tree house!!! I love that. Every child's dream club house. My dream place to hang out :))
Yes, my husband built that @agmoore. He waited until he trusted the kids to be safe climbing in and out, and by then it was a little late. But my oldest daughter lived to do her homework in there!
