Vacation and a two-walk day: August 8 2025
I’m at the tail end of a really lovely vacation in central and northern California with my husband. We have seen a lot of family members and friends.
At some point I will try to write a full blog post about it, but for now I will just share some pictures from the day and from my two hikes.
It was a very full day, which included great moments with friends, a trip to a goat farm and the beach, and a dinner made with fresh caught fish, right off a boat. Here’s a picture my husband took of me at the goat farm we visited with our friends in the afternoon.
The first hike of the day was on a trail through redwoods, oaks and pines with a group that meets to walk each week. They are all Silicon Valley tech veterans (as am I) so we had a lot to talk about. Unfortunately I was stung by bees twice!
Here’s a picture of me with Bay Area fog in the background.
And here’s a picture of the group.
The second hike was along the beach. It was a very nice day! And much cooler on the coast than on the trail earlier.
After the beach walk we went to buy fresh fish from a fisherman on a boat. One of my friends went to a website to locate the boat we needed to find where we could buy the fish.
After that we went to another market for supplies, and then one of our hosts cleaned and cooked the fish while another made a salad and I cooked up a vegetable couscous dish.
What a great day!
Thank you for stopping by!

Wow, it seems like you were having a nice walk, one into the woods, and the other one in the beach, different setting and experience for sure. So sorry to hear that you were stung by the bee twice.
Thank you very much, @ekavieka!
