Labor Day weekend on the Oregon coast: September 1 2025

I’ve had a fun and active weekend so far, on a little reunion trip with my four siblings. We all live in different places, but try to get together once a year at some property my brother owns on the Oregon coast, which is on the northwest corner of the US, with the Pacific Ocean to the west.

It’s a beautiful area. I grew up in the state of Oregon and I don’t get here nearly enough now that I live in Minnesota.

The first picture is of me and one of my sisters posing on the beach. The second one is two of my sisters on the beach path.

The three of us visited the beach together and being the most mobile of the three, I took a walk on the beach to get some steps.

It was a gorgeous day! I watched this guy trying to get airborne with his parasail. It looked really risky to me. I wondered what would happen if he did get up in the air and the prevailing winds were unpredictable and either caused him to drop rapidly onto the hard sand or into the ocean from a dangerous height. It doesn’t seem like a sport one should do alone.

My walk on the beach was lovely. I always feel so fantastic when I can move! I really try to get out for a brisk paced walk or other exercise for an hour a day. It keeps me fit and gives me energy. Of course I don’t manage to do an Actifit post each day like some of you superstars, but I write when I can.

There were pelicans flying along in formation just inches above the water.

After our walk on the beach, we went to the harbor where there are fishing boats selling fresh catch.

We purchased a 15 pound tuna, which the crew cut up for us for a small fee.

They had a very good sense of humor and we enjoyed talking with them.

I also enjoyed walking on the docks and looking at the boats in the harbor.
