Marsh walk between rain showers: October 5 2025
My day actually started with an aqua cardio class at the gym. My step tracker is my phone so I didn’t capture any of those steps. But the gym is located at the edge of a marsh with a trail running through it, so I decided to head out on the trail after the class. It had been sprinkling when I went in, but it was sunny again.
I love all the marshland around my house. In the summers the marshes are all full of red winged blackbirds. This time of year, the blackbirds have left for the season. The cattails have gone to seed, making them look fuzzy and unkempt like they have bed head!
The path through the marsh is amazing. They’ve built a sturdy bridge so you can walk through and enjoy nature and wildlife anytime of year. Before the bridge, you could only walk through in winter when the marsh was frozen and covered in snow.
I didn’t see anyone else. It was kind of nice having the place to myself. When I got to the path on the other side of the bridge I did see someone sitting on a bench, and a woman walking a dog.
I’m very fortunate to live in an area that has many parks and trails. The trail led to a park with picnic tables and a little launch area into a creek for kayakers.
There was a man taking his little boy for a hike. Start them young! Teaching kids appreciation for nature is so important.
From there I crossed the road to jump on another trail that appears in many of my Actifit blog posts. It’s called the regional trail and it goes for miles and miles through many little towns. My husband and I bike and walk on it often.
On this particular day, it took me back to my car at the gym on the marsh (which, incidentally, is called The Marsh). It was fortunate that my walk was done because the sky had clouded over again and it was starting to rain again.
Thanks for visiting!

It is, at last! And oh my, I am WAY behind on responding to comments. I've barely had time to write Actifit posts lately, and when I do it's right before I fall over from exhaustion!
