Barty beats Collins to end Australian wait for home winner
It was an emotional day at Melbourne has World No 1 Ashleigh Barty defeated Danielle Collins to win the Australian Open and end Australia long wait for women single Grand slam.
Barty who was on the verge of losing the second set from 5-1 turned the game on it's head and eventually came out victorious 6-3 7-6 (7-2).
The win makes it a special one for Barty end a 44 year wait for a title in the women singles. She was presented with the trophy by her idol and country last winner Evonne Goolagong Cawley.
Barty was so excited after the match after dream came through. She thanked the home crowd who made her more relaxed and forced her to play her best.
