Miami Open: Ashleigh Barty into WTA semi-finals after defeating Sabalenka

World number one Ashleigh Barty has advanced to the semi finals of the Miami after defeating Aruna Sabalenka of Belarus in a clash that proved very tough.

Defending champion Barty displayed character and great intensity to come out victorious against struggling Sabalenka 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 6-3.

The Australian was able to make save for all points faced in the match. Seven out of seven.

The 24 year old had this to say after the match,

"That was the best level I've played for a long time, especially for a sustained period,"

Ashleigh Barty win sees her become the first player to advance to this year last four where she will be face the winner of either Elina Svitolina of Ukraine or Anastasija Sevastova of Latvia
