From the first episode, I felt like it was trying something different... the series puts a brutal contrast between the adrenaline of Formula 4 racing and the more internal, thoughtful world of photography, Madoka, our somewhat reluctant protagonist, is a guy marked by his past, a past that torments him every time he tries to photograph someone... I don't want to spoil too much, but there's a super painful moment related to a photo he took, and that changed him forever.

Suddenly, he's not just a photographer anymore; he transforms into a man fighting against guilt, criticism, and the hard weight of cancel culture. If you like the stories of those characters who are like lost, you will perfectly understand what the series wants to tell you with Madoka's story... her change is little by little, but it is done with a mastery that leaves you thinking that sometimes life hits you so hard that it is difficult to see the beauty in the middle of the disaster, right there, meet Haruka Asahina, Haruka is not just another driver; It is determination made personified... when Madoka sees Haruka fighting on the track, there is a moment –so, mega real and human– where the vulnerability of the pilot is seen, and that lights a spark inside her... suddenly, Madoka begins to reconnect with that extinguished spark that she previously felt for photography.

Hola a todos, amigos de The Anime Realm, espero que estén súper bien, el día de les quiero hablar de un anime spokon, así como me gustan, pero que va mucho más allá, hoy les quiero hablar de "Overtake" y qué viaje, normalmente no soy de ponerme así de sentimental con animes de carreras de Fórmula 4, pero esta serie, de verdad que me sorprendió, superó mis expectativas, pero por mucho.. es una mezcla bien única entre la acción a toda velocidad del automovilismo y una historia personal profunda que me enganchó desde el segundo uno.. pero a ver, no va solo de carros rugiendo en la pista, se centra en Madoka Koya, un fotógrafo que perdió la pasión y, peor aún, como que ya no puede capturar la esencia de la gente con su cámara, y créanme, su camino desde la indiferencia hasta que vuelve a amar la fotografía, ¡eso a mí me tocó el corazón! Ya desde el primer episodio, yo sentí que estaba intentando algo diferente.. la serie te pone un contraste brutal entre la adrenalina de las carreras de Fórmula 4 y el mundo más interno, más pensativo de la fotografía, Madoka, nuestro protagonista medio reacio, es un tipo marcado por su pasado, un pasado que lo atormenta cada vez que intenta fotografiar a alguien.. no les quiero spoilear mucho, pero hay un momento súper doloroso relacionado con una foto que tomó, y eso lo cambió para siempre.

De repente, ya no es solo un fotógrafo; se transforma en un hombre luchando contra la culpa, las críticas y el peso duro de la cultura de la cancelación.. si a ti te gustan las historias de esos personajes que están como perdidos, vas a entender perfecto lo que la serie te quiere contar con la historia de Madoka.. su cambio es poco a poco, pero está hecho con una maestría que te deja pensando que a veces la vida te golpea tan duro que es difícil ver lo bonito en medio del desastre, justo ahí, conoce a Haruka Asahina, Haruka no es solo un piloto más; es la determinación hecha persona.. cuando Madoka ve a Haruka peleando en la pista, hay un momento –así, mega real y humano– donde se ve la vulnerabilidad del piloto, y eso le prende una chispa por dentro.. de repente, Madoka empieza a conectar de nuevo con esa chispa apagada que antes sentía por la fotografía.

I was completely drawn to the relationship that developed between the two of them... it's not the typical teacher and student vibe, but more like two lost friends who understand each other... Haruka's discipline to work and how he fights with everything to succeed in the tough world of racing, that reflects Madoka's internal fight with her ghosts, and the series doesn't just show you little races, it gets headfirst into the personal stories and strong emotions of the characters. Every time Haruka pushed himself to the limit on the track, I felt like I was there with him... suffering and overcoming the pain, and since we're talking about racing, let's talk about the animation!

The Troa studio did a great job, the CGI in some of the racing scenes may be a bit jarring because it's different from the traditional animation style, but the truth is that it fits the vibe of the series really well... the mix of CGI with the usual techniques gives the races an incredible energy and immersion, I was blown away by how the anime captures the speed and adrenaline of Formula 4... every curve and every turn in famous circuits like Suzuka and Fuji Speedway are made with such realism that it makes you want to get into one of those cars and go racing, it's like the animators knew exactly what to do to make us feel the adrenaline as if it were real... and what I liked the most is how these settings give an extra touch of truth to the story, seeing real brands and circuits from Japan that really exist is not only a nod to the world of real motor racing, but it gives the story an incredible seriousness. Even though we're watching a made-up story, the characters' challenges and triumphs reflect problems we see in real life. From the constant struggle to get money from sponsors to the hard work of maintaining a racing team, "Overtake" holds nothing back in showing that motorsports is not just about fame and money, but is a tough, competitive and sometimes cruel world.

A mí me atrapó full la relación que se armó entre ellos dos.. no es la típica onda de maestro y alumno, sino más como dos amigos perdidos que se entienden.. la disciplina de Haruka para trabajar y cómo lucha con todo para triunfar en el mundo reñido de las carreras, eso refleja la pelea interna de Madoka con sus fantasmas, y la serie no solo te muestra carreritas, se mete de cabeza en las historias personales y en las emociones fuertes de los personajes. Cada vez que Haruka se exigía al máximo en la pista, yo sentía que estaba ahí con él.. sufriendo y superando el dolor, y ya que hablamos de carreras, ¡hablemos de la animación!

El estudio Troa lo hizo muy bien, puede que el CGI en algunas escenas de carreras choque un poquito porque es diferente al estilo de animación tradicional, pero la verdad es que le queda genial a la onda de la serie.. la mezcla del CGI con las técnicas de siempre le da a las carreras una energía y una inmersión increíbles, a mí me voló la cabeza cómo el anime capta la velocidad y la adrenalina de la Fórmula 4.. cada curva y cada giro en circuitos famosos como Suzuka y Fuji Speedway están hechos con un realismo que te dan ganas de subirte a uno de esos carros y salir a correr, es como si los animadores supieran exactamente qué hacer para que sintamos la adrenalina como si fuera de verdad.. y lo que más me gustó es cómo estos escenarios le dan un toque extra de verdad a la historia, ver marcas reales y circuitos de Japón que existen de verdad no es solo un guiño al mundo del automovilismo real, sino que le da a la historia una seriedad increíble. Aunque estamos viendo una historia inventada, los retos y los triunfos de los personajes reflejan problemas que vemos en la vida real.. desde la lucha constante por conseguir dinero de los patrocinadores hasta lo duro que es mantener un equipo de carreras, "Overtake" no se guarda nada al mostrar que el automovilismo no es solo fama y dinero, sino que es un mundo duro, competitivo y, a veces, cruel.

One thing that made me think was how the series touches on the subject of cancel culture and personal trauma in these times when, sometimes, with a mistake on social media your life is canceled, the series doesn't beat around the bush, what happened to Madoka, who was hit by a wave of online hate because of a photo, feels super real... it made me think about the power that an image has, that it can bring beautiful things, but it can also be a disaster. The series makes you see that each photo is more than just an image, it is a moment that can change lives forever... I loved how it made me see photography with different eyes, not only as an art, but as something that holds emotions and memories that last a long time, and another great thing is how the anime balances the two worlds it shows you: the crazy, money-filled world of motor racing and the calmer, deeper world of expressing yourself with photography. Throughout the entire series, Overtake doesn't make you choose between one or the other, on the contrary, it mixes them up, showing that even in such a competitive and materialistic sport, there's always room for art, passion, and truly connecting with people. I thought this was great, because it reminds you that even when we're competing, our personal stories and what we feel also matter a lot.

I'm not going to lie, there were times when I thought the series couldn't handle so many heavy topics without losing the racing vibe, but as the episodes progressed, I was really surprised by the depth with which they developed the characters. Madoka's journey, from being a photographer blocked by his past to finding his passion again thanks to Haruka's energy, is one of the most emotional things I've seen in a sports anime. There's something very real in her struggles and how she's slowly healing, which really hooked me. Haruka... her evolution as a driver, always fighting to prove her worth on the track despite everything, is pure inspiration!

Una cosa que me dejó pensando fue cómo la serie toca el tema de la cultura de la cancelación y el trauma personal en estos tiempos que, a veces, con un error en redes te cancelan la vida, la serie no se anda con rodeos, lo que le pasó a Madoka, que por una foto se le vino encima una ola de hate online, se siente súper real.. me puso a pensar en el poder que tiene una imagen, que puede traer cosas lindas, pero también puede ser un desastre. La serie te hace ver que cada foto es más que una simple imagen, es un momento que puede cambiar vidas para siempre.. me encantó cómo me hizo ver la fotografía con otros ojos, no solo como un arte, sino como algo que guarda emociones y recuerdos que duran un montón, y otra cosa genial es cómo el anime equilibra los dos mundos que te muestra: el mundo loco y lleno de dinero del automovilismo y el mundo más tranquilo y profundo de expresarte con la fotografía. En casi toda la serie, "Overtake" no te pone a elegir entre uno u otro, al contrario, los mezcla, mostrando que, incluso en un deporte tan competitivo y materialista, siempre hay espacio para el arte, la pasión y conectar con la gente de verdad.. esto me pareció genial, porque te recuerda que, incluso cuando estamos compitiendo, nuestras historias personales y lo que sentimos también importan un montón..

No les voy a mentir, hubo momentos en que pensé que la serie no iba a poder con tantos temas pesados sin perder la onda de las carreras, pero conforme avanzaban los episodios, me sorprendió un montón la profundidad con la que desarrollaron a los personajes.. El camino de Madoka, desde ser un fotógrafo bloqueado por su pasado hasta que vuelve a encontrar su pasión gracias a la energía de Haruka, es de lo más emotivo que he visto en un anime de deportes. Hay algo muy real en sus luchas y en cómo poco a poco va sanando, que de verdad me enganchó.. Haruka... su evolución como piloto, luchando siempre por demostrar lo que vale en la pista a pesar de todo, ¡es pura inspiración!

As you may know, "Overtake" is obviously not perfect, it has its little things, sometimes the pace goes down a bit, and at times you feel like they want to put too much serious stuff in at once... but for me, those little details made the emotions that the series gives you even stronger, the series dares to do everything, whether it's getting fully into the raw feelings of a depressed photographer or showing you the unfiltered truth of a racing team that's on its last legs... tell me, isn't that what makes a brutal story? I highly recommend this series, if you like the adrenaline of a good race, the beauty of a photo that touches your soul, or simply a story about overcoming your fears and what society imposes on you, this anime is for you, it has heart, it has flow, and above all, you can see the passion that they put into each scene!

I personally give it an 8.5/10, easy! Yes, it has its weak points, but the way it manages to mix the adrenaline of motorsport with the delicate art of capturing important moments, that's brilliant! It reminded me that even in the midst of disaster and deadly competition, there is always beauty hidden, and sometimes, a second is enough for everything to change... and well, that would be all for today! Como ya sabrán, obviamente "Overtake" no es perfecta, tiene sus cositas, a veces el ritmo como que baja un poquito, y por momentos sientes que quieren meter demasiada cosa seria junta.. pero para mí, justo esos detallitos hicieron que las emociones que te da la serie sean aún más fuertes, la serie se atreve a todo, ya sea meterse de lleno en los sentimientos a flor de piel de un fotógrafo deprimido o mostrarte la verdad sin filtros de un equipo de carreras que está en las últimas.. díganme, ¿acaso no es eso lo que hace una historia brutal? Les recomiendo mucho esta serie, si te gusta la adrenalina de una buena carrera, la belleza de una foto que te llega al alma, o simplemente una historia sobre cómo superar tus miedos y lo que te impone la sociedad, este anime es para ti, tiene corazón, tiene flow, y sobre todo, ¡se nota la pasión que le metieron en cada escena!

Yo, personalmente, le doy un 8.5/10, ¡fácil! Sí, tiene sus puntitos flojos, pero cómo logra mezclar la adrenalina del automovilismo con el arte delicado de capturar momentos importantes, eso es genial! Me recordó que, incluso en medio del desastre y la competencia a muerte, siempre hay belleza escondida, y a veces, un segundo basta para que todo cambie.. y bueno, eso sería todo por hoy!
