The Match Ghanaians have waited 12 years for is finally here. (Ghana V’s Uruguay)

Hello guys how are we all doing. The group stages of the 2022 World Cup is about wrapping up and what more can we ask for apart from an exciting finish, Fifa didn’t fail at doing that. Let me take you on ride into the past, 2010 World Cup to be precise. Do you remember Ghana V’s Uruguay? If you can’t well I can never forget that day. It was indeed the saddest day for all Ghanaians. We all know what happened, we were denied the chance to the World Cup semifinals by Luis Suarez who clearly stopped the ball from entering the net with his bare hands.

source

Honestly I didn’t understand why a goal wasn’t given because everyone would agree that the ball was going in. But a penalty was awarded to ghana in the dying minutes of the game unfortunately, Gyan missed the from the spot and caused our elimination.

From that day onwards Ghanaians have prayed and wished for a rematch between Uruguay so that we can exact our revenge on them. Fate has answered our prayers and have handed us the opportunity to right the wrong. Now the big question Is would we or can we take revenge on them?

Having watched both countries play, I think it’s not going to be easy as expected here is why. During Uruguay last two encounters in this World Cup I have noticed two key things on how they play. The first thing I noticed was defensively they are very good far far better than the defense of Ghana. South Korea couldn’t even register a shot on goal when they meet. Take Portugal for instance, they have some of the best attackers in football yet they also struggled to penetrate their defends

source

The second thing I noticed was how quickly they can turn defends to counter attack. A pure example is the chance Bentacur got against Portugal unfortunately he couldn’t finish a brilliant run. Ghana needs to be wary about this. They also have some of the best players in their club which we need to look out for. Some of them include; Valverde, Nunez, Cavani, Bentercur, Pelllistri and Suarez.

Ghana has shown great character against Portugal and Korea. And I can boldly say we have great chances at beating Uruguay. If I were the coach I would Stick to the same lineup that beat Korea and correct the few mistakes we made in that game which is the defense in the later part of the game created many spaces and I must commend the Koreans for capitalizing on these spaces.

If we play out ball right we would be Victorious at the end of the 90mins. Wining of this fixture mostly comes down to the players mindset if they put it in their minds that “we can’t lose this game this is a final and I have to give my best,” I promise you we would win that game with ease.

source

What do we need to do to secure a spot at the round of 16? Well to qualify we needn’t lose that game. We either play draw or get all three points. In the case of a draw, and unfortunately South Korea wins against Portugal. We need a higher goal difference before we book our spot currently we have 0 goals and South Korea has -1 goals.

Tell me what are thoughts on this game? Where would you be watching it from. I would love to read your comments about this most anticipated game in Ghana. Thank you

Lol. I agree it is not right, but that is how life is sometimes as this was not fair. The problem is Ghana need a draw to go through whilst Uruguay need a win so it should be a good game. My head says the South Americans will win and send Ghana out.

Yeah. It’s definitely not going to be an easy one. I’m really hoping for a great game and may the best team win.

I’m pretty sure at the time there was no goal line technology and so no clear way of actually telling if the ball did cross the line.

The Uruguay national team have been very unimpressive and that has seen them score 0 goals but then a Ghanaian team that has conceded 4 in their 2 games maybe what they need. I hope that’s not the case though.🙏😅

Imagine Suarez repeats what he does in 2010. What do you think would happen?😂

Yeah you are right. Secondly the ball didn’t actually cross the line if it did I’m sure a goal would have been given.

Well if he repeats that and there was still time as a player I would retire him(if you know what I mean😂)

I had forgotten which team that egregious handball happened during. I do recall that Suarez was in the wings celebrating when the penalty kick was missed as well. He also bites people during matches... which is crazy.

For me I what Ghana to win this much, this will be the best revenge for Ghana if they could send Uruguay out of the world cup. We wait and see how both teams battle today.
