Monday Rest Day? - Well Kind Of - My Actifit Report Card: September 27 2021

Never Miss A Monday is something I abide by 99% of the time, but for that one percent; there are days like this.

It is very difficult for me to miss a workout on a Monday, because it usually sets the tone for the week for me.

Sometimes, we have to be cognizant of what our bodies can endure, especially at 55 years old and we have to rest extra days.

After Saturday’s attempt at running a full half marathon after some physical challenges from March through August, it was more than a tall order.

We had committed to do it prior to the pandemic and so it was what it was. I had run a full half once and nearly missed one by a mile, this was more than just trying to match that.

This was more of finding out where am I mentally and physically.

I came away from Saturday’s event a bit disappointed, but the overall attempt still provided me with more of an insight on how far behind I’ve fallen or am I getting closer to my old self.

I don’t believe my old self is realistic, but I will continue to be active, continue to participate in running events and will be back to my 6 days a week Orangetheory Fitness High Intensity Interval Training sessions tomorrow morning.

Tiffany and I planned on 2 rest days after the run, so we stuck to that and honestly; we were wrecked physically. That was brutal, especially under the Orlando sun!

Today, I moved around a lot better and accumulated some ActiFit points and I am mentally prepared for burning splats tomorrow - we’ll see how I’ll physically survive that 🤪

I've learned that we can't do all we want to all of the time! Our bodies might not be up to what our minds think it is, lol! Resting can often reset you and you do better after it. I have found that to be true most of the time.

I don't think you will slip back to 'your old self' as you sound like you are very aware. That is half the battle. Nice job with your 8770 @actifit steps for the day. Take care and enjoy tomorrow.

It's tough, especially after putting in over 8 years straight of feeling beast mode lol, but yes if there is one thing we learn along the way - is to always listen to our bodies.
