Template - AOM Day #5 - Base-ically Upside Down

As Tiffany and I and many other diehard OTF fanatics entered into day five of the All Out Mayhem series, the fact that there are now two more left is yet another crush worthy week.

We had Head Coach Mariah leading us through today’s template and truth be told the upside down wasn’t actually literal as we don’t actually do gymnastics at OTF lol.

Yesterday and today had Flip and Upside down in the template name, I’m sure some folks may have assumed that. I’m a few weeks away from 56 years old- nope, I ain’t flipping or doing anything upside down; physically.

It should make a little more sense if you read the whole post.

Our home studio was on and poppin’ this morning and the OTF Nona North faithful were all in!

On to the template:

Floor/Rower Block 1 - 6 minutes circuit

• ⁠Buy-in: 600 meter base to push row (I rowed this in about 2.14 minutes

• ⁠3 rounds of:
⁠• ⁠6 bench tap squats
⁠• ⁠6 bench tap front squats (I started with 20 pound dumbbells and immediately transitioned to 35 pounders)
⁠• ⁠6 bench tap jump squat
• ⁠If finished then recover

Floor/Rower 2 - 6 minutes circuit

• ⁠Buy-in: 600 meter base to push row (I rowed this in 2.11 minutes)

• ⁠3 rounds of:
⁠• ⁠6 bench decline push ups
⁠• ⁠6 chest presses (same 35 pounders)
⁠• ⁠6 bench power push ups (I clap during these)
• ⁠If finished then recover

Floor/Rower - 6 minutes circuit

• ⁠Buy-in: 600 meter base to push row (I matched the previous 2.11)

• ⁠3 rounds of:
⁠• ⁠10 total atomic mountain climbers
⁠• ⁠10 total plank pull throughs (I went with a 40 pound dumbbell for these)
⁠• ⁠10 plank jacks

• ⁠If finished then recover until finisher

FINISHER: 1 minute of FULL burpees (AMRaP) As Many Reps as Possible

On to the treadmills.

My heart rate was recovering way too fast, so I was in jeopardy of missing out on my 12 plus splat points.

Today, is usually rest day; so won’t lie that I’m feeling a bit winded at this point; but not enough to get me off course to finishing all 7 workouts.

Today, was incline intensive; so another clue that splats were going to be at a premium.

I averaged 7.5 miles per hour, but ran as low speed of 6.5mph to a high of 10mph this morning.

Tread Block 1

% = incline

• ⁠1 minute base
• ⁠90 second base @ 5%
• ⁠1 minute push @ 5%
• ⁠90 second WR to base
• ⁠1 minute ALL OUT

Tread Block 2

• ⁠1 minute base
• ⁠90 second base @ 6%
• ⁠1 minute push @ 6%
• ⁠90 second walking recovery to base
• ⁠1 minute ALL OUT

Tread Block 3

• ⁠1 minute base
• ⁠90 second base @ 7%
• ⁠1 minute push @ 7%
• ⁠90 second walking recovery to base
• ⁠1 minute ALL OUT
• ⁠1 minute walking recovery
• ⁠1 minute ALL OUT

My OTBEAT HEART RATE MONITOR RESULTS was disappointing, but the chart looked very nice and I was happy with the calorie burn, ran at least 2.4 miles and rowed well over 2000 meters; so the sweat equity was legit badass:
