Relishing games and sporting activities

My earliest participation in sporting events was in elementary school, and I was barely 10 years old then. I attended a public school, and I can vividly remember being in the green house, as all students were distributed into four major houses by the colors blue, yellow, green, and red. In elementary school, I had my first sprint and relay races, but more fun was the high jump. My colleagues and I often went privately to practice high jumping. We usually went to a secluded place, behind one of the classrooms, and set up heights, beginning with the lowest and graduating as such, until contestants were unable to meet up. And yes, we played with Biro covers, rubber bands, and even the covers of Coke bottles. Almost everything could be turned into a game those days.

Growth is constant, and hence, high school came with its own variety of games. I was not in the game club, but I participated in a few, one of which was the chess game. I was taught once, played once afterwards, and beat my tutor, except if he allowed himself to be won, which I doubt. Another game I have tried is scrabble. I enjoyed playing with words, and it was fun having to use my brain to calculate. In high school, I was exposed to football, and though I wasn't the best of players, I manned my position perfectly, which was number 2, defense. I hope I won't sound violent, but if I missed the ball, I wouldn't miss the leg (🤣). Also, I participated actively in sprint and relay races. My endurance could not contain the marathon race, and since I was halfway there, I volunteered as an encouragement to the female gender of my team.

How time flies and how we get carried away by life's activities. My university or college years had little participation in the aforementioned games or sports, probably because of my course of study.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed board games like Ludo, which I still keep to date. Unfortunately, I don't have a knack for watching football on the screen, which is unlike men generally, who can sit for hours and even lay down to watch matches. Perhaps it's a family trait, as my older male siblings are in similar shoes and not fans of watching football.

But yes, I love watching wrestling, and this is one sport that all my family members love to watch. Perhaps the types of Undertaker, Ultimate Warrior, and Hulk Hogan spiced up our growing stages of life, and till tomorrow, watching wrestling is something I cannot get tired of. Except that some of the matches look fake and staged, I still enjoy the matches in and out of the rings.

Engaging in games and sports has significant health benefits, such as relaxing the mind and stretching the muscles. The heart is often made to pump a little faster, challenging it to work while the brain is kept in optimal function.

Games for me can either be indoor or outdoor, and sometimes I just like the comfort of the home to enjoy these games. Very recently, I stayed up late till about 5 a.m. playing a 2048 game that was introduced as a challenge, but seeing a leadership ranking, I devoted myself to beating the challenge by topping the gamers. I was able to reach the top 30 players out of thousands of players, but for about two weeks now, I have relaxed; perhaps the motivation has reduced. Whenever I wish to challenge my brain, the game is one that I readily pick to play.

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Thus, beyond my busy schedule, I find time to engage in some games or sporting activities, which could be the ludo in my house or the ride of a bicycle in my compound.
