Actifit Report 261121: Burning Off The Bird
Today was a family day.
No work. No people to visit. Just hanging out together in Toledo Ohio.
My wife and I lived in Toledo for about a decade before we moved to Cleveland. Today, we took them to do some of our most favorite things.
First things first though, continental breakfast and swimming at the hotel.
I was up first so I took the dog for a walk. By the time I got back, the kids were stirring but the wife was still sleeping. I took them down for breakfast. She joined us halfway through and then we all headed to the pool.
A Couple Things Kids Love About Hotels
- Hitting Elevator Buttons
- Running the Hallway
- Using the key to get in the room
It was amazing how much we (parents) had to make sure that each child has an equitable amount of pushing buttons and opening doors.
After we swam it was time to change and head out for lunch. We took the kids to one of our favorite greasy spoon diners in Toledo, Schmuckers: Good Food. I'm sorry I forgot to snap a picture. We used to walk here when we lived in town. The kids gobbled on sandwiches and fresh cut fries, my wife had breakfast, and I had a roast beef sandwich. Delicious.
Then We Headed to Our Favorite Park
Wildwood Preserve, Toledo, Ohio
With full bellies we walked over to the playground...
The kids jumped and climbed and swang... Then we hit one of the trails for a nice walk
We came back to the room for some quiet time and relaxation. My wife headed out with one kid to do a little shopping and get dinner. I went down to the pool with the other child.
After Dinner We Went to the Toledo Zoo
It was their annual Lights Before Christmas display
We saw tons of lights and got to go into the history museum and the aquarium.
After the zoo the kids got to come back, eat some popcorn and watch The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
Overall, I'd say a great day was had by all. Hopefully they'll sleep in!!
