It all starts with a curiosity; Another geological enigma on Mars

Souce

This news has appeared in many media outlets and yes it really is a beautiful, curious rock that also has its own intricacies to explore, it is called Skull Hill Rock or Colina de la Calavera, I believe that the story comes from the title that they have given it The Rock, with that they have already earned press headlines.

The rock was discovered on April 11 by the Perseverance Martian Rover while it was descending the lower part of Witch Hazel Hill on the edge of Jezero Crater. The rover stopped at a limit visible from orbit that separates a light rocky outcrop from another dark rocky outcrop. The rover found this rock, which is a floating rock. It is a larger rock. from the science fiction movie Pandora, it is because those rocks were created in another place and arrived where they are due to perhaps being thrown by the impact of a meteorite or by a volcanic eruption or dragged by ice or water in the past or other phenomena.

The floating rocks were not formed there, it is something that is evidently seen because they do not look at all like the rest of the rocks that it has in its environment and in this case you can see that it is completely different and also has some characteristics that make it quite peculiar, on the one hand its dark tone, on the other its angular surface with practically flat faces and that also contrasts with several curved indentations, they do not look anything like the surrounding rocks and if you were an astronaut who came across it you might wonder Quickly, where does this rock come from?

That's where the researchers are, I warn you that geology issues are going very slowly, the researchers suspect that it may be either an igneous rock, that is, the product of a volcano that has been ejected or a meteorite, because meteorites have already been found on Mars before, I think the vast majority support the igneous rock theory more but they are still at it, they are investigating to see where it came from and what the history of this rock is, there is not much more.
