Chelsea Humbled At Home

Chelsea saw an end to their six-match unbeaten run today at the hands of Brentford at Stamford Bridge. It was a defeat that came as a surprise to many football fans especially considering their current form and the fact that they are at home.
The Ibrahimovic saga was expected to hurt the team but the effect didn't happen as expected. Their loss today cannot be linked to it because there is already good news on a new Chelsea owner and they won their matches when the heat was even much. Many people believe that the loss can be attributed to the usual tradition of Chelsea losing their first match after most international breaks.

Anthonia Rudiger opened the scoring in the 48th minute with a long strike from outside the 18-yard box. The celebration was cut short just two minutes after the goal. Vitaly Janelt equalized for the visitors at the 50th minute and goals from Christian Erikson, another one from Vitaly Janet and Yoane Wissa took the scoreline to 1-4. Indeed I couldn't believe it as the blunders from Chelsea defenders gave room for the goals. With this loss, a win for Arsenal on Monday will close the gap between them and Chelsea to two points with a game at hand for the two teams.
Chelsea is also going to face Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on April 6 just three days after today's match. Real Madrid on their part wouldn't want to allow Chelsea to defeat them for the second consecutive time in two years.

As a Chelsea fan, I feel that Chelsea underestimated Brentford and they paid dearly for it. Again, they also need to learn how to break defensive formation. They find it hard to win any match where the opponents are in a defensive formation. I hope we bounce back against Real Madrid and return to winning ways but the fact is that it won't be an easy game. I hope that on Wednesday night, I will be typing with joy in my heart and not in a sorrowful mood like today.
