Scoring an own goal during a football match is something that defenders are prone to. Sometimes these own goal happens in an attempt to clear the ball away from the goal post and at other times, it is as a result of unprofessional actions by a defender. I have witnessed many own goals but certainly not a hat-trick of own goals. I can remember Jon Walters who scores two own goals and missed a penalty during Stoke City versus Chelsea encounter in 2013.

Sunday 20th February 2022 will always remain an unforgettable day for New Zealand and Liverpool defender, Meikayla Moore who scored what can be seen as a perfect hat-trick of own goals. In football, a perfect hat-trick involves scoring with the head, the left foot, and the right foot. Moore scored the three goals with the head, the left foot, and the right foot making it a perfect hat-trick. It would have been a good record should the goals be against their opponent.

She scored the three own goals in the first half alone at the fifth minute, the sixth minute, and the 36th minute. It was during the SheBelieves Cup encounter between New Zealand and the USA. The match ended 0-5 thanks to two more goals from Ashley Hatch and Mallory Pugh. Could this be the end of the international debut for the Liverpool defender?. It is forgivable when a local defender scores an own goal but it is more challenging when it comes from a professional player. Will Liverpool act based on the incident that happen during the international encounter or should they ignore it and see it as one of those bad days in football?.

As for me, this thing can happen to anyone. The first own goal was in an attempt to clear Sophia Smith's dangerous cross, the second goal is what can happen to anyone because she couldn't have stopped the ball from deflecting off her head into the net, so is the third goal. I think her club and country team should support her at this crucial moment.

What is the worst own goal you have seen?

I want to invite my Liverpool friend, @kenechukwu97 to this table.

Own goal to defenders usually have the same impact like missing a penality for attackers. It's an unforgettable record especially when the error makes the whole team to lose that particular game.

Talking about worst own goals I have seen, especially those in a Liverpool shirt, nobody beats this young German man.

The days we spent with Karius in-between the sticks is unforgettable. He punches out balls onto the feet of opponents and we all know how it usually ends. Oga will claim that concussion messed him up. Haha.

That UCL final was his end. He gave an assist to Bale for one of the goals he conceded and successful parried the other shot into his own net. Lol.

Let's blame concussion.

Hahahahaha. I remember the days karius. It was indeed a hard time for most Liverpool fans, especially for the UCL final. But he did something remarkable; he accepted his mistake and went on to apologize at the end of the game. The fans forgave him for the UCL incidence but there is never a second chance for someone like him.
I don't know whether to compare Karius's form back then with Maguire's current form.

As for the lady, I hope she moves on easily because it is not going to be easy for her especially when it happened during international duty

As for Mr. Concussion, he should have known better that such an excuse puts his capability on the question.

Yeah. This lady's case is a dicey one because international Cap gives players a lot of reputation. If you are doing well in club side but fail to pull the same performance in International duty, it causes a lot of distrust in your loyalty.

It may be taken differently over there, but in African Football, it would have been a career threatening mistake.

Hahah... As for Maguire, I heard that Ashleigh Plumptre, the new super falcons defender, is better than him 😂😂😂

Seems like Man U need to meet Leicester and swap Maguire for Ashleigh
