Haven't talked about fishing for a long time. It's winter now. Fishing is not always possible everywhere. But still, you need to know about fishing places. Moreover, fishing is one of the types of tourism. Fishermen are ready to overcome hundreds and thousands of kilometers for the sake of successful fishing. Today I will start a conversation about the Southern Bug.

A few words about the Southern Bug river

It originates in the Khmelnytsky region. At the end point it flows into the Black Sea. Runs across the vastness of several regions of Ukraine. Personally, I fished in the Odessa and Nikolaev regions.

Basically, the current is rapid. There are a lot of rapids and rapids. Kayaking flourishes on the river. By the way, this is another type of tourism. Mostly they are rafting from the village of Migei (Nikolaev region).

The fishing spot is sometimes quite difficult. The banks are mostly steep. In the lower reaches of the river, the area is swampy and overgrown with bushes. It is not always possible to get close to the water. In this regard, they try to fish on the Bug with a couple of types of tackle. These are: spinning rods, carp fish and feeders. Occasionally, you can find quiet corners where you can drop a float tackle.

What types of fish are found in the Southern Bug

I will not speak for every single species. Basically, they catch here: catfish, chub, podust, perch, roach, bream, rudd, bleak, pike and barbel.

At the bottom, don't forget about the crucian carp. He's pretty big here. In some places you can catch goose bumps. There is a tench and a carp. They come from the Black Sea: stellate sturgeon, vimbets, eel, sabrefish and so on. Let's not forget about the bull.

Personally, I pulled out small catfish (up to 1.5 kg), perch, crucian carp (on average from half a kilogram), lashch (the largest by 1.9 kg), roach and rudd. The pike rarely takes. There are places where pike perch takes well. Mostly near the hydroelectric power station. I caught the goby in different parts of the Bug. Sometimes a large carp comes across.

Catchy places

I recommend going straight to the Aleksandrovskaya hydroelectric power station area. Downstream walleye takes well. For large crucian carp and catfish, you can go to the village of Osinkovo. Sometimes I go to one of the tributaries of the Buk, the Savranka river. Carp and bream take well there.

Separately, I recommend going to the area of the urban settlement Savran (North of the Odessa region). First of all, fishermen enjoy the picturesque scenery. And fishing will be one of the most memorable in life. Among the places I want to highlight s. Zavalye. There, crucian carp, carp, asp take well and a solid white carp comes across. S. Shchukino, which is located near Dubinovo. There you can hunt for crucian carp, carp, asp, rudd, perch (often found within a kilogram) and bream. Later I will show you some photos from Dubinovo.

So, if you want to have a good rest on the river, I recommend going to the Southern Bug. Picturesque paintings await you. The nature is such that you will immediately want to grab a pencil and figure out a few sketches. Yes, do not forget to take photo and video equipment with you. No tail, no scales!
