Good ol' Eindhoven Marathon

Today the marathon on Eindhoven was back with a vengenace after having to cancel it last year due to (ofcourse) covid. Some people will call it just a running event, but literally the whole city of Eindhoven is turned upside down for the contest the whole weekend.

On Saturday there were a lot of smaller walking competitions, and this Sunday was the main event. The weather was perfect and already in the morning was the childrens competition of 5 and 10 kilometers

This image the city of Eindhoven honestly, but another Dutch city, I expect Rotterdam, but who cares

After this family event the main event of the whole marathon started which was won by Silas Too in 2.06.32. In other years the marathon was always the decor of really fast marathons, but this year wasn't the case in that way. Nevertheless....2.06 is a damn fast time!

In the finishing hours of the pro's that is when the amateurs start and that is when the real social event starts. Because everyone in the city knows someone who is running along, and that is so cool.

The competitors all have their first name on their shirts and that makes it so easy to just cheer at anyone. 'Go Henk..you can do it, its not that far anymore' even if you don't actually know the person. Well, my voice is totally aware of this now afterwards hahaha.

What I find so cool on these half marathons is that there is such a goal for everyone and you can see the determination on people. Also the difference on how easy or not people are running is just really fun to watch (sorry guys, a lot of yall looked like crap).

But I am sure that afterwards everyone is just really content on the fact that we were able to do something outside again which was literally an event with 18.000 people in the races and I guess like 50.000 people on the side of the roads.

Life is slowly coming back for a bit and I like it. But the idea of being in a marathon or a running competition itself? Nehhhh, thanks but no thanks! I will stay on the side cheering my voice away again.
