Mauerwerk Café / Masonry Café

Hallo zusammen,
da unser Sohn zur Zeit auf Klassenfahrt ist, hatten wir gestern nach der Arbeit Zeit, uns einfach mal wieder auf das Rad zu schwingen und eine schöne Runde zu drehen. Bei uns ist es im Moment hochsommerlich warm, da macht das Radfahren umso mehr Spaß. Wir haben eine Strecke entlang des Flusses Weser gewählt, und einen kleinen Stopp in einem schönen Bauernhof Café gemacht. Das Café nennt sich "Mauerwerk" und liegt direkt am Weserradweg inmitten von Feldern mit wunderschönem Blick auf das Wiehengebirge. Der Betreiber ist ein Schokoladen Sommelier und bietet ausser Schokolade auch selbstgemachten Torten und selbstgemachtes Eis an. Ein Geheimtipp ist das Café nicht mehr, da der Konditormeister kürzlich auch bei einer bekannten TV Backshow teilgenommen hat.
Wir waren froh, dennoch ein schattige Plätzchen auf dem Hof zu ergattern, da es in der Sonne tatsächlich zu heiß war.

Since our son is currently on a school trip, we had time after work yesterday to just get back on the bike and go for a nice ride. It's warm in the middle of summer here at the moment, which makes cycling even more fun. We chose a route along the Weser River and made a short stop at a lovely farm café. The café is called “Mauerwerk” and is located directly on the Weser cycle path in the middle of fields with a beautiful view of the Wiehengebirge. The operator is a chocolate sommelier and, in addition to chocolate, also offers homemade cakes and homemade ice cream. The café is no longer an insider tip, as the master confectioner recently took part in a well-known German TV baking show.
We were happy to get a shady spot in the yard because it was actually too hot in the sun.

Wir genossen eine leckere Waffel mit Vanilleeis und einen Nuss-Shake, bevor es wieder mit dem Fahrrad zurück gehen sollte.
Vorher schauten wir uns jedoch den Hof noch etwas genauer an.

We enjoyed a delicious waffle with vanilla ice cream and a nut shake before heading back on the bike.
Before that, however, we took a closer look at the farm.

Es gibt einen sehr großen Spielplatz für die Kinder mit Sitzmöglichkeiten für die Eltern und bestem Blick auf das Gebirge und die umliegenden Felder.

There is a very large playground for the children with seating for the parents and the best view of the mountains and the surrounding fields.

Und mittendrin ein Stück Mauer... ob die wohl der Namensgeber des Cafés war?

And in the middle of it all, a piece of wall... was that the café's namesake?

Und dann war da noch folgendes Konstrukt, welches meine Aufmerksamkeit auf sich zog:

Von Weitem sah es zunächst nach einem Sportgerät aus, aber bei näherer Betrachtung sieht man, dass es ein riesiger Tisch mit Schaukeln drumherum ist. Auf dem Schild, welches sich auf dem Tisch befindet ist ein QR Code, über den man direkt etwas in dem Café bestellen und auch online bezahlen kann. Eine sehr coole Idee, wie ich finde.
Hier haben es sich bestimmt schon einige lustige Radfahr-Gruppen auf den Schaukeln bequem gemacht und gesellig miteinander angestoßen.

From a distance it initially looked like sports equipment, but upon closer inspection you see that it is a huge table with swings around it. There is a QR code on the sign on the table, which you can use to order something directly from the café and also pay online. A very cool idea, in my opinion.
Some fun cycling groups have probably made themselves comfortable on the swings here and toasted each other sociably.

Und da Radfahren ja bekanntlich hungrig macht, haben wir nach unserer Tour noch kurzerhand den Grill angefeuert und ein Thunfisch Steak darauf zubereitet. Dazu habe ich einen asiatischen Gurkensalat mit Sojasosse, Reisessig und Sesam gezaubert. Es war außerordentlich schmackhaft ;)

And since cycling is known to make you hungry, we fired up the grill after our tour and prepared a tuna steak on it. I also made an Asian cucumber salad with soy sauce, rice vinegar and sesame. It was extremely tasty ;)

So ging ein schöner Tag zu Ende. Und nun freuen wir uns auf die Rückkehr unseres Sohnes, der zum ersten Mal 5 Tage ohne uns unterwegs war.

So a beautiful day came to an end. And now we are looking forward to the return of our son, who spent 5 days without us for the first time.
