AFCON Vibe; The Super Eagles walks into the knockout stages.

I've watched Nigeria play all their group stage fixtures in this year's African Cup of Nations (AFCON) and if I'm to give my genuine assessment of this Nigerian squad, it's going to force tears outta some people's eyes. Seriously, this team is making football look like a boring game to watch. It's almost like the type of game which you will be told to watch as a punishment.

Here's the ironic part; despite the fact that the team are playing shit. And the fact that we are paying our hard-earned money to watch them play shit... We all still show up whenever the Super Eagles of Nigeria are playing any game. Haha. Seems like we are not as unpatriotic as we claim.

Well, I went to watch Nigeria play their last game of the group stages in the AFCON. They played against Guinea-Bissau and the first half of that game was a painful one to watch. It's a surprise that we are playing with no style of play when we arguably have a team that's filled with top footballing talents.

We lost the midfield battle in the first half of the game and completely got wrecked by Guinea-Bissau. If this was any other top team, they would have been winning the game comfortably before the half-hour mark. However, Guinea-Bissau is just as awful as Nigeria. Haha.

G.Bissau 0 - 1 Nigeria

Don't get it twisted though... These guys played well and they do a good job of creating chances and moving the ball smoothly from their backline to Nigeria's backline. However, their finishing is crap. They didn't get to test Nigeria's keeper properly.

The time they managed to score, it got ruled out for offside. Am I upset about that? No way! Haha. I mean, this is football and Nigeria also had a goal ruled out because of offside. In the game, 3 goals were scored but only 1 got awarded as a goal. Both sides lost a goal each due to offside.

The only goal of the game is the own goal scored by Sangante of Guinea-Bissau in the 36th minute of the game. To be fair, that goal feels like he scored it because of a personal vendetta against his Goalkeeper. Haha. The goal is almost as good as a Panenka. Of course, the young lad was gutted, but we Nigerians can't be bothered about that.

The officiating in this game is an "I don't want drama" officiating. The amount of soft fowls that were allowed to fly in this game is ridiculous. It gets quite frustrating when players are just diving and rolling on the floor like a kid who wants chocolate. Well, we got the win.

I already said that Nigeria's style of play in this performance isn't inspiring. However, there are a few players who put in 100% in the games. Take Ola Aina for example. He's buzzing his position, both defensively and attacking-wise. Same with Calvin Bassey. The lad is phenomenal and he has the heart of a warrior.

Osimeh kinda deserves a shout-out, just because he's playing all playable positions upfront. He plays 7, 8, 9, 10, 11. He plays everywhere at the top side of the pitch and I know he's doing that because we don't have the midfielders who can drop sumptuous passes for him if he remains in the no.9 position. The same thing applies to the other attacking players beside him. They are all playing like amateurs.

Well, we will have our eyes on the knockout stages of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). I hope we go beyond that stage. Hehe.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Going to the knockout stages with only 1-0 wins is just lucky...
Very lucky.

If our team was in any other group, we all would've stopped watching AFCON by now

Bruh... This is the exact thing I've noticed about this squad. The whole team seems to be struggling and it's a surprise that our attackers can't create chances.

We are already in the stage where it's a Win or Lose. If they display the same performance, that will be the end of their AFCON journey.
