Arsenal 0 - 2 Liverpool; Konate pulled another defensive merry-go-round.

I'm still in a post-match X space where discussion is getting heated up between Arsenal fans and Liverpool fans and I like how every Liverpool fan is so pumped about the performance of the lads in the game.

What a game that was!

This is a game of ego between teams that are contending for the EPL title. Of course, this evening's encounter was not an EPL game. They had a go at each other in the EPL during the Christmas holiday season and the game ended as a goalless draw between the two.

The one that was played tonight was an FA Cup round-3 game and Liverpool pretty much stepped into this game without some of their top players. Salah is off to international duty in Egypt while Endo is also off to international duty in Japan. These guys are very important to this Liverpool side and their contribution is obvious to the team's performance in the last couple of games.

Aside from the lads who are off to International duty, Virgil van Dijk was ruled out of the clash with Arsenal due to illness, as confirmed by Jurgen Klopp. Szobo was also ruled out because of fatigue or whatever was said. The point is, it didn't look like Liverpool were favorites stepping into this game and the first half was also tight on Liverpool.

We couldn't get stuff right in midfield. Many Liverpool fans didn't know we would ever get to say that "Endo is missed in a game", but it was very obvious. Our midfield got run-through in the first half with ease. Macca couldn't hold it together in the middle and needed assistance from Trent in that no.6 position.

The problem with this is that Trent is perfect attacking-wise, but he usually gets turned inside out when he's defending 1v1 positions. Check his defensive duel against Martinelli in the second half of the game. He got nutted over and over again by Martinelli. It was really hard as a Liverpool fan to watch Trent get cooked by Martinelli. It was stinky.

Well, it was a different case with Konate. He buzzed his 1v1 against Arsenal, especially Martinelli. Konate always pulls a defensive merry-go-round and I'm loving it. I only wish he would be fit for us. We need him in this second half of the season.

Below is the stats from the game;

I will take this win, any day and any time. Imagine fitting 18-year-old boys into the squad against Arsenal when we are playing a goalless draw and we still managed to win with 2 goals. You can't make that stuff up.

Bradley came on to play the RB position and the young lad put his life on the line to neutralize the dancing legs of Martinelli. I enjoyed every bit of their duel in the final 20 minutes of the game.

We are already heading into the 4th round of this competition. While we wait to see who we will be paired against, all eyes are already on our mid-week fixture against Fulham.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop or Comma.

Haha... Seriously. The 1v1 situation against Martinelli was breathtaking. I didn't enjoy that as a Liverpool fan because Trent got smoked really hard. Haha.

Thankfully, Konate always came to his rescue
